i HAVE BOUGHT A 2009 TEAM RIPPER FRAME.
And I'm building it up for the summer,In the winter I'm considering shipping it down again and maybe having it ball burnished or as its ALI just having it polished.
i have just bought Dia-comp/tech head bearing in 11/8th integrated but they are 3mm ish smaller OD than bearings in cups! is this the norm or are they just wrong??
i hasten to add that as I'm a bit handy with a lath i have knocked up some shims for the bearings to fit one for the fork ends and one for the bar end which the bearings sit nice and snug
does anyone know if this will cause a problem with the bikes alloy head tube or it will be fine??

:) What`s the model name/ number of the headset that you bought? Rippers are usually a semi-integrated headset (cartridges or caged balls-both in cups)

On the box it says IB1 Integrated headset OD 41.8mm diatech, the semi integrated usually supplied is 44.06mm the actual race bearing and the sealed bearings are the same size, the headstock is 44.14mm so the make the differance i have made a shim that is 1.15mm i have just offered it up and im gonna have to take just a couple of micron's off it so its still tight but wont need to much bashing in!
might see if i can get some pics up if it works out ok cant see why it shouldnt as at the end of the day its still 1 1/8 threadless.
