I'd reckon the price of having a full Somerset village done would be daft :crazy2:
It'd smarten it up a bit though :)
Sean would prefer paint though ;) :D

I paid £45 and that included de-chroming a 24" frame and forks and chroming the forks only. (The frame was painted elsewhere)
The finish was immaculate 8)
Ask Kappy about their service and quality.
And they answer your e-mails!

The 3rd Time my CW was done it went to Allen Chroming and the finish was fookin lovely :coolsmiley:
Removing the "old chrome" repolishing bars, frame and forks and then chroming was all in @ £220 including postage back.
Well happy with the results and wouldn't hesitate in having stuff done there again or recomending :daumenhoch:

I always use Doug Taylor Chroming in Banwell nr Bristol, Gashead uses them also. They have always been top notch and as they have been around for fooking years they are trusted.

For what it's worth, I had some pieces done by Hockley a while back and the results were first class.
He also photographed the parts beforehand and we had a long conversation regarding serial numbers/ID marks etc. All of which were irrelevant for me, but he was clearly taking that side of things seriously. I understand this is where he may have fallen down in the past.
Looked to me like he was putting the effort in now.

Ask Kappy about their service and quality.
I think Mr Kappy was happy with their results (I could be wrong on this but hopefully he will jump in at some stage). However, yes, he did tell me about how crap their service was. VERY slow on possibly a few broken deadline promises..
But unless Darren KAP is about to prove me wrong, I dont recal anyone ever having an issue with Hockley's results. My F&F / bars / seatpost were stunning..
But yeah, I do get the impression they need to work on their turn around time and customer services in general. I also get the impression their prices have gone up a truck load. I paid approx 180 for the above 4 items and I think that was a great price. 10 months later and I think I would struggle to get anywhere near that price from them today..

It's been documented here that Hockley have fcuked up a couple of times.
He does know now how collectors on here expect their stuff to come out though. As for customer service - no :LolLolLolLol: He's a blunt sort of fellow, just his way. I got on fine with him, I would advise people not to spend too much time worrying about it.

My Skyway frame was done by hockley. Dont expect it to be done quickly, but i was happy with the results. Seems to be a mixture of good and bad results with them.
-
Sorry Paul i would rather trap my c0-k in a door than use Hockley Chrome the biggest bunch of fookin w--kers and full of sh-t , enough said :knuppel2:
Allen Chrome :4_17_5: they did my Action Zone bars and are flawless it was a shame to put the decals on :smitten: :smitten: and such a helpful company to deal with :daumenhoch:

Exactly... :2gunsfiring_v1:

My parts come out mint, I always deal with Lee and Alan. They have invested in new tooling which this frame set was the first to be worked on :daumenhoch:

Chroming 20/30 year old shyte takes time, it's not like powder coating........it's a Fooking shyte job to do and I'm sure they have other stuff to do.
Can't expect things turned round in a week or two, I would estimate a few months at least ???
-
as pickle said its not an easy job.
There is a slow dip to remove the chrome and a fast way, depends how much you want to pay. Then all the pre polishing. When I had mine done I just said time is not an issue I just want it to look like new, 8 weeks later and you can see the results with my Kuwi.

I think the time thing is a perfect example of BMX building in general lately, people are in way too much of a rush. Some things take time and some of you guys really need to learn some patience when building bikes.
I had some chrome removed from a set of bars recently and it took 4 weeks, did I shout and moan, of course I didn't this is how things go sometimes.
I have seen so many times on this and other sites, some nice frames with some absolutely laughable and shit parts just because everybody is in a rush to get stuff built.

I agree Sean, the worst thing you can do is purchase "that'll do" components in order to precipitate a build.
My own personal issues are not concerned with the duration but the results.
