If you forget about the forks, the frame looks very much like a DP Freestyler.. No serial number on the rear brake mount so maybe an early Mk1??
Paul
-
that looks like a early DP frame but with Meteor-Lite forks...
You sir... got a BARGAIN!!!!!!! :4_17_5:
-
dan if its to sell on it matters if its cos you just like it ,it dont matter .
-
excellent, thanks every so much for all your help, is there and marks or number i should look for when i strip it down to get painted/powder coated/or cromed/
-

"The early mk1 Freestylers didn't have frame numbers so they were added on as some of the frames broke. That way they could keep track of the batches. The GL Plus frames would have started off again with 001 and the same for the Limited Edition Freestyler."

WOW that is fooooking mint, mine at best will probably look like the top picture lol how much did it cost to get it to look like that,or should i not ask, also if it was a mk1 how many marks does it go up to is there a mk2 mk3 mk4 also what colours is there i was thinking crome or white
the wheels will probably end up for sale on here before long :)

Got mine re-chromed at Hockley. Personally, I would avoid going for white as nearly all restro jobs end up being white. Saying this, white was one of the factory colours..
Keep us updated..

on the early ones wasn't whit the only colour you could have? other than chrome of course.

thats a very nice bike you have as well, if i can get mine anywhere near as clean or as nice i will be over the moon,i dont want to get carried away with the cost, but i have been looking for a while for a project so this is it, first problem ive got is getting the seat stem out ,then what colour to do it, like you say every one does white lol
ive not even seen the bike yet,i am out of town at the minute and my mate rang me from a car boot saying theres an old bmx here with skyways for £40 so i said get it so untill later ive only seen it in the pictures in his garden.
does anyone know what yeat a mk1 dp it to or from ?
also any suggestion on colour would also be great ?
-
did you get my pm Dan?
you need to go to Steve's site and have a good look through all the info :daumenhoch:

The seat is so far up it should come out really easily :daumenhoch:
leave the seat on ( tighten it up if its loose ) undo the seat clamp... WD40 in and I bet it will come straight out :daumenhoch:
-
hi yeah i got it thanks ,ive just sent you a pm back,my mate had undone the seat clamp and soaked it in release oil over night so i will try get it out later when i get to the bike
-
Nice find fella. If you struggle with the post, lie the frame down, clamp a stem to the post then slide a tube (set of forks work well) over the stems shaft and move it up and down until you can turn the post out. Always worked for me in the past.

Top booty find :D good luck finding a pair of forks!

ive had lots of great help and even a few emails and it seems i stand no chance in getting any dp forks hahah oh well as it will never be a show bike while i have it, i will have to settle for any old forks, them landing gear forks look good, how much would they be and where would i get hold of some.
ive spent about an hour on this bike today and now have the seat post moving and the handle bar stem so all being well they will both be out tonight when i get back to it and it will be a bare frame ready for the powder coaters.
i think the wheels will need new bearings and spindles as they are both about fooked and the rear is bent due to stunt pegs
the seat clip is an sr
the bar stem says forged on the under side
the middle of the crank says sugino and the crank ring is a tioga
i will add more pictures up tonight to show my progress on the frame thanks again so far for all the help

a few more pictures after tonight, the frame may have been white at some time or even chrome , ive rubbed down over the frame wear the paint had been chipped or bubbling and all going well so far

good stuff!!
-
Regarding the forks: sure, try find some originals but personally, I would not loose any sleep over using the existing forks. I think they look pretty good and match the frame well..
