You need more spacers.......the stem should sit proud of the forks by about 5mm.  :daumenhoch:

Well this afternoon i striped  the front down and noticed the, i think its the bottom sleeve to the race needed knocking down a bit more so i did that engaged the forks back into the bottom bearing into the top bearing put the bearing collar cover back and added a 5mm spacer and 2mm spacer and my lully new robinson stem tightened the fangled nutty thing and the stem up and balls there is still about 1mm play in the headset! poxy thing!! what next?? should i take it to the bike shop and see what they say? they are Stanley bridge bikes in WALTHAM ABBEY the guy who manages the shop is into bmx bikes and love's rippers  and rides,

Are the bearings correct for it? That black spacer should sit flush to the race, it's got a great big gap  ???
