Brought a bike of eBay (survivor) with a pro neck 2 stem on it and tange arx forks.
http://i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc515/hmoon27/levyamahaburner003.jpg
Stripped the whole bike , came to the stem and it just won't budge! Got the bolt undone and wedge is nice and loose , gave it a good spray with wd and left overnight, but no joy.
I've just turned it upside down ,taped up the hole on the stem and tied a rag around it so no fluid escapes , I've then completely filled the fork tube with 3 in one penetrant spray to see if this helps.
Don't really want to put the forks in a vice and give it a twist as I don't want to risk bending the forks?
Or am I missing a trick with the large bolt on the stem, what does this actually do? :idiot2:
What'd ya reckon boys?

Try and get hold of some plus gas penetrating oil, WD40 does not work very well.
-
Sounds to me like the chrome on the shaft has rusted through and it's stuck in the forks fella. Plus-gas the outside of the stem shaft ie inside the forks and then grab the top of the forks in the vice at the brake hole and plenty of rags, put the bars back in and give it a twist :daumenhoch:
-
doesn't the large bolt just holds the stem part to the stem shaft
-
That was my next move spen :daumenhoch:
I also took the bolt right out so the wedge fell out the bottom of the forks , but to no avail >:( thought if I could get the wedge out, I could try knocking the stem out from below?

Think your right mate :daumenhoch:

Put siome Coke down it (not the white powder - too exspecive ;D) coke eats where wd40 doesn't - this will help shift the rust and they you can twist it free ;)

Remove the bars. Sit on it naked. Put the washing machine on spin and hold on tight!!! Works for me ;)
All of the above and a washing machine :daumenhoch:

duck oil is good as well
