Title: I am enjoying this build so much I do not want to build her!
Post by: Clean on July 07, 2012, 04:30 PM
I am enjoying the sourcing, restoration etc. for my current build so much I really do not want to build her up and end it!  :idiot2:

1983 Kuwaraha Nova, looked like this when I picked her up:

(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/x71/rkw1971/KuwarahaNovaSurvivor4.jpg) (http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/x71/rkw1971/KuwarahaNovaSurvivor3.jpg)

Spen got hold of it briefly:

And now looks like this after a sprinkling of magic powder to the Frameset by SBD, Del's Decals, some collecting of parts, and a trip to the chromers for the bars:

Totally. Welded in. We tried a lot of techniques / spanners / hammers etc. and the fooker wouldn't budge. The Crank was fooked beyond use anyway, and the spindles looked like the metal on a WW1 shipwreck up in Scapa Flow!

Nice!! Starting to think there's a bit of a kuwi craze going on at the mo..

I wanted one because where I lived as a lad people rode PoS, Burners, DBs or Kuwies, and that was about it.  :daumenhoch:

Funnily enough I had never seen a Haro or SE Racing bike in the flesh until my return last year, and I had never even heard of Robinson or Torker!

I am convinced of the regionality of brands BITD; must have been a result of where the agent / importer was based.  :daumenhoch:

Can't go to MK this year; up diving around the Shetland Isles for a week in August and with MK date moving back three weeks I am jiggered.  :'(

Title: Re: I am enjoying this build so much I do not want to build her!
Post by: Spen69 on July 07, 2012, 08:29 PM
Nope, been making this shit up for years Andy ;-)

We soaked that pedal in diesel, shocked it and nearly bounced the spanner through the winsow of my brand new motor before I got a new blade in my hacksaw and cut that opc off. It was minging though and not stamped or branded so not worth saving.....

And the seatpost? It had swollen over the 30 years it had been in there so I drilled it out with three sequentially bigger bits. But I still tried to save it first with all kinds of ideas. No luck.

I do like making a mess though and Rich hates getting dirty bless him.
