just had another quick read (and a long think at what my GL Plus will look like) and from what steve say's "There is no way of accurately dating your frame as they only have a 3 or 4 digit number and no letters to indicate a month."

Shame no forks - but some one might come up with some at some point

this is my GL Plus (932)

I have the idea of what i want to do and the parts are coming together  ;)

looks nice,i  bought some landing gear forks se 1985,  for is and had it powdered today,i was gutted about the number as i thought it was a mk1 but i guess now its a mk2, still a bargain, i paid £40 for the bike, £60 for the forks and £70 for the powder coat so not doing to bad, i will put some pics up of the frame tomorrow when its light so i can take a picture out doors, ive tried to take one tonight but it doesn't show the colour at its best

bloody great score at £40  well done  :daumenhoch: not sure why your gutted its a mk2 tho they still early/mid 80's and stronger than mk1 due to slightly shorter top tube length the earlies broke at head tube apparently , mk2 all the way for me  :daumenhoch:

MKII's are better anyways buddy as the MKI's were prone to snapping around the head tube    :daumenhoch:

A nice set of chrome CW's would look ace on that  ;)

really bad picture, how did you guess, i was going for white decals, ive even been in touch with a decals bloke on here about getting all white decals but he said it would be 1 to 4 weeks to come,i like things yesterday haha i was building it as cheap as a could,i was going to use some chrome bars that i have, i think there skyway ez twin bars, lay back seat stem,mx brakes in white with mx white seat clamp, ive bought a redline crank arms and a red line chain ring, thats it so far i did want white araya wheels but no look yet i have just bought some black arayas 1.50 and some blue arayas 175 and some aero zetec wheels but i dont think i will be using any unless i get the aeros painted white  :)
Title: Re: dp freestyler mk2 age
Post by: dannyrobo2012 on July 08, 2012, 01:57 AM
i dont really no a great deal about old school bmx bike or bits, ive only got back into it about 7 months ago but ive been and looked at theses wheels time and time again, but the few people i know on here and have asked said if they were 1,75 they would be great but 1.50 would be to narrow on a freestyler bmx
Title: Re: dp freestyler mk2 age
Post by: BENDYCAT ELEVENTEEN on July 08, 2012, 02:09 AM
I would go with 1.75's and areo's in white - but it's all up to you  ;)  have a look at other DP on here

Looking super hot, Danny!!  I consider that colour for my latest build but in the end went for "standard" Candy Red.  But yeah, this is one Firebird I am really looking forward to seeing built; there are so few Firebirds that are non-white/non-chrome so there is a lot of expectation on yours to look bang tidy!!  I got my tissues stacked and ready!!

No pressure :)

Got a few builds in the works and just got a new little daughter - so it may take a little time

But i have been gathering parts for all builds when they come up cheap or a swap - but i have it all planed out of what it should look like  ;)

builds should be some thing to be enjoyed and a little time taken - then you get the most out of them

you will find that on you next one - trust me there will be another after this one  ;D

Post by: dannyrobo2012 on July 09, 2012, 11:45 AM
congratulation on your new daughter  :)

its been great building the bmx and looking for the bits, ive really enjoyed it, and has made a change from building road bikes  :)

i have the decals coming tomorrow or Wednesday for my frame, the crank arms come today, ive just bought a cheap seat stem, i am waiting on a reply from a lad on here with some white dc 901 brakes, so looking forward to that , i really need some white araya wheels, ive got some in blue, i just dont no if to sell them on or powder them white and buy white hubs with new spokes , if i use the ones i have it will make my wheels a expensive pair but if i buy a pair of  rims on there own i might get some cheaper , what do you think
Title: Re: dp freestyler mk2 age now with pics

i think that it will be easier to paint them than find a white set

it would be even better if jamroll would answer his emails and sell me the brakes he told me he would sell as a good will gesture , so i guess i will  be re order the cheap mx1000 brakes in white for £23.50 each, off fee bay shame coz he had some nice brakes in white

Dan - These builds take time mate ... like a fine whiskey  ;) it will all come together ... good parts are worth waiting for and make the difference between an 'average' and 'very nice' build.

You must have patience  8) that frame took about 27 odd years to find you ... give it a couple of weeks to find the parts eh

yeah i know your right ed  :) i am far to inpatient i know, i just want it done, my first build should take forever but i want it done yesterday  :( i think i should take a step back :( and wait for the better bits to come like the brakes , there`s no real rush after all  :) so i will wait and see if the lad gets back to me on the brakes as they looked sh=t hot and would look a lot better than a cheap new set ,
thanks for the advice both of you, i am very great for for any help along the way :)

i am still stuck on wheels, ive bought 3 pairs now but still none the closer to using any of them, i wanted some 20x175   7x rims or araya aero rims so i could paint them white, ive some new white hubs on the way as well

i should have bought them chrome sumo i showed you ed and fitted the white hubs and sell all the others wheels on
