Title: MK12 Details ** Please read **
Post by: pickle on July 13, 2012, 09:13 AM
Okay..........we're only just over a month to go till the biggest UK old school BMX event of the year!! So thought i would put a thread up with details of the event and some pointers for anyone coming along for the first time  :daumenhoch:

For SatNav'ers ... the following postcodes have been used in the past to get you there ( or near! ) : MK15 9PA or MK15 9LZ ... but if you come along Tongwell Street you'll see the entrance of the track......see map...

The Track and visitors camping area will be open from about 7am on Saturday morning..... THE TRACK IS NOT OPEN ON FRIDAY!.
There will be 4 porterloo toilets, these have been hired for YOUR convenience......please use them with care and make sure you leave them clean as they are needed for the whole weekend.

There will be a food van, selling burgers, bacon rolls and so on..........be aware we have no control over the prices so don't expect 80's prices  ;D
We will supply a huge skip which will be situated on the right hand side as you come in to the track area.......please make sure you bag all your own rubbish and put it in the skip provided.......you may all pack up and leave on Sunday afternoon but we have to make sure the place is clean and would like to get home before 9pm!
We will put rubbish bags around the track area........please use them!

Saturday will be the usual mix of chilled out buying, selling and looking at gorgeous old bikes.......(Oh and drinking of course)  ;D .........the Track will be open for free practice but you have to wear gloves and a helmet or you will be asked to leave the track for safety reasons  :daumenhoch:
There are a couple of things we traditionally do on Saturday and we thought it would be a good idea to put some rough times to these so people don't miss them.

Saturday
Jump Comp - around 4pm
Lake Ride - around 6:30pm
Cinema - around 8:30pm onwards

Sunday
Sunday will be Official show n shine registration, this will be from 9am through to 11am down in the main event arena (See Stidds, ED209 and Myself)...........then the racing will start around 11:30am  :daumenhoch:
The racing will be pre-reg only so keep your eyes open for Gashead's thread next week  :daumenhoch:

For all those awesome people who have bought T shirts, Mugs, plates and so on.....these will be available for pick up over the weekend.......just ask one of the Mods or Admin team......you will know them as they will have it written on the back of their T shirt  :daumenhoch:
we will add to this with any new developments as we think of them  ;D

I like the pay on the day format for S&S as I haven't finished one build which will come if completed in time.
Less pressure to find the right parts!

Track looks great in those pics. I can only make Sat as there is a BMW show on the Sunday I have to go to.

Newbie question time... What type of helmet is required for Sat track use? Does it need to be full face?

Just a note for the Show N Shine bikes.

we are planning to split up the race and freestyle bikes this year, but you must bring your own bike stand.  we do not have stands to loan out (1 of mine went missing last year)  >:(  but anyway, if you come to the show n shine tent without a stand you will not be allowed to put your bike/bikes in the show tents.

Sorry, this might sound bad but without a stand your bike will fall over and fall against other peoples bikes resulting in both yours, and the other bike being damaged.

Make sure you have stands!  :daumenhoch:

Just had an email from the MK Club and they've managed to get the MK council to put up some proper brown BMX track signs on the road.......so keep your eyes open as they should be up on the 17th ready for the meet  :daumenhoch:

Cheers Dave!! I'll take the compliment from you!

Just copied this from the club website for the Non sat-navvers

Directions from M1 Junction 14:

Take A509 signposted Central Milton Keynes.
At first roundabout (Northfield) take 3rd exit onto H5 Portway.
At next roundabout (Pineham) take 3rd exit onto V11 Tongwell Street.
After 400 metres, take the turning on the left (signposted "Helipad").
Go through the yellow gate and follow the road down and under the bridge - the track is straight ahead.

Checked it on google maps satellite, and it seems OK.
