Post by: Jamroll on July 18, 2012, 10:07 AM
Doing a build at the moment and it will be a rider (allbeit a mint one) and i really fancy some black rims on it...other than Tuffs (or other moulded wheels) are there any other rims out there that would stand upto brake rub and remain black  ??? Don't really want shiney side either. Bit of a noob question i know but i aint got the foggiest  :LolLolLolLol:

i don't think any of them will hold up against a lot of braking, hard anodised stands up better but i think they will all rub off in time  :-\

what about Z's?  ???

AFAIK its gonna come off regardless. If the brake pads don't do it by themselves then once grit and whatnot gets in the pad it will.

Other options.  Shineside the rims.  Fit a coaster brake.  Have a word with KAPPY and go for full disc conversion.   >:D

Black arayas last a good while before brake wear takes hold, had mine for nearly 2 years before they shine sided, took about 5 minutes at a very wet muddy track  :'(

They'll last ages with normal dry weather use
