Title: 14 tooth freewheel question..............
Post by: welsh denny on July 27, 2012, 03:58 PM
my mate got given some of a mongoose bmx (2004 villian i reckon) -30th anniversary stickers on headtube. been sourcing parts on the cheap on here, ebay and parts i had.

ordered a freewheel and chain as it would be finished then. bloody thing is too big (16t). so looks like the 44t chainring i put on there will have to go now and get

another smaller freewheel and smaller chainring. never had a 14t freewheel or any of the smaller ones - any recommendations- bearing in mind a small budget- will the

13 and 14t both have the same smaller thread than the 16t has? if so i think a trip to ebay for a 39t chainwheel/sprocket and a 14t freewheel. didn't think the budget

bikes had smaller gearings back then.

Yes, a 13T and 14T freewheel should go on the smaller thread (same as the smaller side of a flip-flop hub).
There have been some nice 39 tooth Dragonfly chainwheels cheap on t'bay - it's what I use on my cruiser :daumenhoch:
