I picked this ultra rare 85 Robinson freesyler while in Cologne ... :smitten: its the only one I have seen . There is only this one and an 86 robbo freestyler on the museum ...
It has lots of GT parts , seat , tyres , seat clamp , stem, pegs .. Six spoke skyways .
Robinson bars and seat post ...
Its rare to see a Robinson with these decals never mind on a freestyler .. :)
Question is
leave it as it is ??? ( the tyres are tatty , and do I put skyways on it )
Or do it my way ???

Carl its your buddy, do what you like , just don't take tips from.........
-
I love it as is Carl, but it's your pony do to it what you wish :smitten: :daumenhoch: :Great_Britain:
-
Looks lovely as is in my opinion. Definitely wouldnt remove the decals. :smitten:
-
Would deffo leave as is. :daumenhoch: Quite like the little wear on the tires and i'm pretty sure they are OE skyways that are on it. Much more interesting than stock skyways :4_17_5:
-
The chrome is mint so I won't be touching that or the decals .. Even though I was thinking of doing it baby blue to match my 86 >:D
-
i think your making these up carl... ;D
-
the stuff you want for it will turn up, there's no rush...had an interesting chat at the hairdressers the other day, got asked if I spent a lot in Germany :yahoo_silent:
-
frame forks and bars look loverly, but decals look naff, the rest chuck in the bin and start again i say, sorry but it looks cheap to me.... ;)

Thanks for you honesty Sam , this is how it was originally sold I was told ... And the decals are correct :daumenhoch:

:LolLolLolLol: I guess Mel does your hair then .. What she been saying ???

proper nice that carl,do it up tho,the parts are gash, keep the mid 80's theme tho :daumenhoch:
-
If you're thinking of dumping the 6 spoked tuffs let me know :daumenhoch:
-
looks way better in the flesh and all og too
leave it as it is carl imo
very very nice indeed
-
i do like it as it ...but i dont know how long i could leave it before i wanted to change a few parts to make it my own... either way cool bike. :daumenhoch:
-
Cool find Carlos ..... rare aswell 8)
If that's it's original spec i would be tempted to leave as is .......
but i know you too well so when you split :LolLolLolLol: .......... im interested in ...
the seat , seat clamp and chainring please :-*
-
That is lovely never seen one before.
If that is the original spec I would leave it exactly as it is as it's an original survivor and a piece of history :daumenhoch: otherwise it will just become another over restored bike with unneccasary high end expensive parts.
PS I love it exactly as it is :smitten:
bodamus ;)
-
yum yum, and as previously said, leave as is. But in the end its yours and you should do as you please
-
Love it as is but I would change the tyres as when you can :daumenhoch:
-
Think its ace . love the skyways as a bit diff ;) do as u please buddy 8)
-
that is lovely, how much was it
-
Looks good Carl :daumenhoch: , not sure about changing it though if it's indeed OG spec :-\
-
Thanks for your input guys .. :daumenhoch: I'm still unsure what to do with it .. It would have been built by GT so all the part's are correct .. All the part's are used and worn the same so i would say it's all original from bitd ...
As it is so rare i'll be leaving it as it is for now :daumenhoch: might just change the tyres as one has a rip ... :daumenhoch:

The rest chuck in the bin and start again i say, sorry but it looks cheap to me....
Thats exactly why most builds these days look over done. As Ian says, it will just become another over restored bike with unnecessary high end expensive parts.
It looks proper nice in it's original glory. Change the tyres and have fun riding it bro :daumenhoch:
-
Proper nice this is 8) 8)
If it where Me Carl i'd leave it as is :daumenhoch:
But I do agree on the tyres ;)
-
I like that Carl, I am not a lover of freestyle bike as a norm as I find some of them a bit ugly with all the extra superflous tubing on them, but that is definitely not one like that, it looks like a race bike with 2 extra tubes, similar to the Curtis freestyler, I like that also.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

i agree with what snav says. but when YOU put a build together you always pull a bit of magic out of the bag . either way you have something extreamly rare and special :daumenhoch:
-
As already mentioned by a few on here... I would leave it as it is. It looks pretty mint and if it is all original i wouldnt touch it.
The minute you start to break that up would be sacrilige and you would be destroying an original and honest bike.
Some bikes need a resto and some bikes need to be left as found. That is screaming to be left alone IMO (even the tyres).
The irony is lots of people restore bikes to their original spec and there you have a very rare bike in its original spec :D

grips were made in 1988 ;)
that looks well nice id leave it as it is, i could do with that seat though :daumenhoch:
