Title: Tange 320 headset
Post by: Junkyard dog on July 29, 2012, 04:24 PM
Hi, have recently bought a used 320 headset and, basically not as described  :tickedoff: fleabay for you. Basically rusty inside where bearings run, bearings seem fine. Could it be re-chromed, or is it not cost effective, or any other way to make surface smooth.
Many thanks.

i would just clean out the rust with some wire wool and pack it with grease and it should be fine, the chrome would just wear away anyway with the bearings running on it.

Gotta admit I would just do the same tbh unless you're planning to race it hard in crap conditions all winter, and then I'd say sell it and buy a sealed unit :-\

I actually finished restoring a Tange LP320 myself yesterday and was very suprised to find the chrome was intact on the inside of the races and it has come up mint. Does anyone know where to get new decals for hese - does Del do them or Mark at Retrospect as I've seen LP125 decals about but not the LP320's..... would like a set in gold to be even more awkward

Pretty sure Mark does them, if he doesn't have a listing up just email or bell him.  :daumenhoch:
