Hi somone has a part I want but they won't except PayPal only wu but there's no protection with wu like PayPal, or is there if I was to pay through wu with a credit card would I be coverd then?
-
Yanky seller is it? I know nothing about WU transfers but whenever i see a seller will only accept this it makes me nervous.... just sayin :daumenhoch:
-
It's never worth the risk , i'd step away unless they accept paypal imo.
There's been alot of threads about scammers on the museum recently and it's to easy for them to take the money and you never see them again for dust.
If he doesn't have paypal i'm sure he knows of a friend/family member who has one that you can send money to?

All I ever hear about Western Union transfers is that they are dodgy and steer well clear of them.
-
:'( but I really want the bars :LolLolLolLol:

:'( but I really want the bars :LolLolLolLol:
But they may be invisible :police:
-
imo i would stay clear of WU payments. as from what i hear it's as good as just posting cash to the seller.
-
Yup,
Im uncertain about the credit card insurance issue however, WU have been connected to scams/money laundering and criminal activity. Once your money has gone, it will be, erm? gone? Stay clear mate.
-
walk away. the bars will be around somewhere, if the deal is too good to be true then it probably is. never ever pay an unknown with western union.

Hallo, my name is Dr Umbongo.
I have just won the nigerian lottery & want to share my glorious good fortune.
All you have to do is send me 10 dollars via Western Union, plus your bank details so I can send you the cash.
God go with you.
Dr Umbongo.

I've lost count of the horror stories about weston Union Money transfer's I've heard :uglystupid2:
Thay are run kinda like a "franchise" http://www.gapmoneytransfer.com/agents
And as such are open to all manor of scam's as the agent doesnt give a sod as long as he gets his cut
You'd be better off buying a couple of Gallon of beer and pi55ing that against the wall :(

I've used WU money transfer once, when selling a bass. I made sure that the money had cleared before I even thought about shipping the bass. Worked fine for me but it doesn't have the safeguards that other systems have. The yanks use it all the time.
-
I personally wouldn't do it-got scammed by a seller ages ago when i was new to ebay and as the transaction was just under a £100 the police didn't even want to know :wtf: surely theft is theft :-\ phoned up weston union where the money was collected and the name he used was on their list :-\ so how did he collect the money i asked ? fake id :knuppel2: so i said suely cctv is normally present in these sort of places ? yep was the answer but does do detect them while they are actually at the counter collecting your hard earned dosh :wtf:
so in short don't do it :daumenhoch:

Could you not organise it as an ebay sale, so that you've got comeback if the bars don't turn up? My bass that was paid for via WU transfer was done that way so the buyer was covered instead of just relying on goodwill.
