Title: PROFILE CHAMP SHELBY JAMES (finished for now)
Post by: AKGOFF on August 13, 2012, 03:59 PM
Picked this up from Stevie boy this afternoon and although it's not exactly how I want it, for MK purposes, it will do. When I get them the Hubs are going to be changed to 28 hole Campy Sheriff Stars, the Terrycable spider will be stripped and polished and the Tyres will be changed to NOS Michellin Hi-Lites 20 x 1.5s

The current spec is:

NOS Profile Champ Pro Mini SHELBY JAMES Frameset 84?
170mm Terry Cable Cranks - Spen69
Terrycable Spider - Dan Diesel, will get stripped and polished
NOS KKT Lightning Pedals
3/32 Chain
43t Chainring
OG Profile Pro bars - Ben sonic
NOS Oakley B1Bs
NOS Tech 3
NOS DC MX 900
MCS 4 Bolt Stem
NOS Hatta Headset
NOS Shotgun ll
NOS Full Radius Hutch Clamp
Araya ribbed sides 28 hole 20 x 1.5s - Brummie
Diamond Back Turbo Lite 28 hole Hubs - Brummie, will be changed to Sheriff Stars
Blue / Grey label 20 x 1.5 Comp llls - Brummie, will be changed to 20 x 1.5 Michellin Hi-Lites

Thanks to all who helped with parts and a big thanks as usual goes to Steve for building it for me. :daumenhoch:

Looks a bit survivor ish at the moment but when I get the Sheriff Stars the whole thing will get overhauled and cleaned so it's shines like a new penny.

Some nice parts used on it but i'm not convinced on the bars at the moment. As they're pro bars they look out of proportion to the rest of the bike. It's only my opinion though which doesn't count for anything i know.  :-\

Love to see TC cranks on a build, very much under used. Stickers for them were for sale on the Museum last week.  :daumenhoch:

It is mate, although its called a mini, it's more of an expert size, Shelby James was Fookin big for his age.

I know what you mean Andy but I couldn't put them on anything else, they are Pro bars but cut down to about 25.5" so they're too small for a pro sized bike but maybe a little tall for this? Didn't want to waste a set of Profile bars basically.
As for he Terrycable decals, I hav some which Dan Diesel sent me with the spider I just forgot to put them on.  :idiot2:

Thanks for all the comments though guys, it's good to hear all opinions.  :daumenhoch:

Wow, I'm honestly quite surprised with the amount of positive comments this bike has got.  I like it but it's nowhere near the top of my collection in my view. I also see what some people are saying about the seat, I'm not totally convinced of it either but I didn't have anything else kicking about. Cool seat for sure but maybe not on this bike.
I've found a set of 28 hole Sheriff Stars in Italy but its proving hard work to part them from the seller.  :knuppel2:

Thanks again guys. :daumenhoch:

Looks great  :daumenhoch:

Before you strip the spider though you might want to swap it here first as that one is the nicest I've seen in this condition - Be a sin to strip and polish it when you can do that with another one of lesser condition. You spider your choice of course

"big thanks as usual goes to Steve for building it for me"

do you sit in a big chair and get fit women to feed you grapes whilst its being built?

You should. Its a great look  :daumenhoch:

Hey Adam, I have a polished Terry Cable spider I'd trade for your black one it you are interested, would save stripping that lovely looking one  :daumenhoch:

I did have someone who wanted to swap but haven't heard from him since so I guess he's changed his mind.
I might strip this bike anyway, not really convinced I like it enough. :-\
