About 7 years ago I set out to build one of each of the 1" headtubed S&M frames. There are a couple that are a bit hard to find so I aimed to get the main 10 frames. Last night I finally finished them all off. Just in time for MK12 :daumenhoch:
I only took pics of the headtubes so far. Can you name them all?

btw. Most of the stickers are Original :)
2 of them had the wrong headtube stickers so I had to get new Re-pops (but the other frame stickers are Originals)
2 of the bikes have been re powdered and so have had full re-pop decal sets
( :daumenhoch: to Del and SBD)
-
Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh. :smitten:

cool! you've gotta love those HAF decals ;D

The HAF was one of the ones that I swapped over the head tube sticker. My frame has the later, Banner style frame decals with a shield on the headtube. As well as being the same sticker as the Mad Dog (I liked that they could all be different), I also HAD to use the FAT F**K headtube sticker, cos it RULES!

I know that you're keeping them under wraps until MK, but for those of us that aren't going wil you post full pics of the collection once you're back?
cheers, and it must be a nice sense of accomplishment, I hardly ever finish doing one bike let alone 10 lol

Not really keeping them under wraps, it was just dark last night when I got them finished .... and my phone has a crap camera :-[
Most of them have had pics on here over the years (even if I have changed a few bits over since then), but yes, I will take some nice pics and get them posted up. :daumenhoch:

It has taken me MANY years to find them all and get them built.
The funny thing is, the last one I got round to doing was the one Ive had the longest :crazy2:
-
That is quite an accomplishment Alex, what year is the Challenger?
-
what year is the Challenger?
Not sure of the year of the Challenger. Its 1" headtube, wishbone seat stay so its the early frame design. But its got chain stay 990 mounts ???
I was told that the only ones they made with chainstay 990s were custom made for Neal Wood. Although I like the story, I dont know if its true.
My fav Challenger is the wishbone seat stay with seat stay Canti and a cable stop on the wishbone. It makes the whole wishbone work so well with the brake setup.

I am moist with anticipation

Can you name them all?
Easy :daumenhoch:
Cool line up, let's see a group shot

I ended up taking all these bikes (and a few more) to MK yesterday. I even took a few pics of them all in a line.
13 bikes in my car, without even having to take a wheel or pedal off

Spotted the Dirtbike on RTG ;)
Well spotted. I managed to bust out a Sprocket Pocket grind on the "Relic".
its been a while, but I remember sprocket pocket grinds being harder ???
Loads of good bikes at MK12 but for me the 3 I would most like to have taken home with me are:
1) The Zeronine Pro XL (The best bike there by a country mile).
2) Alex's S&M Challenger
3) Gish's S&M Holme's
John- Just out of interest. Why does the challenger do it for you? It is the 24" wide bars? ;D

Haha, I didnt say I thought it was perfect, I just said I wanted to take it home with me. :LolLolLolLol:
Seriously though, you dont see many red ones at all, add to this the fact yours has 990's and it makes it an interesting example to me. You see loads of Chrome ones, a few yellow ones, but yours is the first red one Ive seen in the flesh. I think its a really nice example of an S&M racer, and given Im currently hunting for one I guess you could say Im a little biased towards Challengers at the moment. :smitten:
-
What a line up! Just amazing Alex :daumenhoch: Now start on the 1&1/8 collection, or make sure that ol' Warpig You've got makes it to My house so I can build it :LolLolLolLol:

Yeah, I agree with the Red. To me, challengers have always been more "right" in red.

Thanks :daumenhoch:
I dont think there is any chance of me building up a load of old 1 & 1 /8". A few years ago I made a list of all the frames up to that date and there were over 30
Having said that, i have managed to get a few:
-OS Dirtbike
-2 Next Gen Dirtbikes
-Sabbath
-Warpig
-Challenger 20"
-Challenger 24"
-24" RV
-LTF
-ATF
and the last 5 are all built
-
Saw these in Dans ''HOT'' tent at MK, I love that green Mk3 Holmes :daumenhoch:

You're on the way then :LolLolLolLol: You know You need a Beringer in there as well! :daumenhoch:

You know You need a Beringer in there as well! :daumenhoch:
Yeah, Im on the way :-[
Im thinking that a few select Oversized frames would be nice. I'd working on getting my old (modded) Next Gen back. Then it would be nice to get a Call Girl, and for sure a Beringer. Maybe a PBR and a Bennet but only because I rode both those frames for a while. I didnt really like either of them. :(
The only reason the 20" Challenger is built is because its exactly as it was when I rode it. I gave it to someone once I'd stopped using it and recently he gave it back to me.
-
Definitely need a Call Girl in there. Butler was a big part of the S&M crew and his frame was a well deserved addition to the S&M range.
-
Hmmmm. I wonder if Butler and Beringer have got a stack of their frames they dont want. ???
Maybe if i'd asked them 6 years ago! :LolLolLolLol:
