Great read that Steve, thanks buddy. A good addition to your web page too :daumenhoch:
A 360 air back then was hard to achieve for anyone and the trick we all wanted to do. I was well chuffed when I pulled my first one off but the gap that Charlie crosses there is huge and much respect to him for that :)
Thanks again for sharing buddy, enjoyed it.
-
cheers Lads, Charlie really is a great bloke. only met and spoke to him a few time, he now rings me and asks how im doing 8)
that 360 jump in the picture was just over 37 foot wide, the way I had to put the picture together doesn't do it justice

I bumped into him in Gatecrasher in Birmingham at the after race party at the World Championships in May.
All suited and booted Charlie always looks smart. He's a funny guy for sure.

Great read. I met the larger than life Charlie at Brockwell Park many years ago, 19 July 2003 actually, when the Brixton BMX Club was getting back on its feet under Kenny Flloyd's guidance. Here he is in this picture showing off his six-pack with his hands on the heads of my sons Matt #428 and James #462. I offered him a chance to ride my cruiser but he declined it and said that he'd only make a return to racing if he got a top sponsor on board. Really nice guy. Humps

I've added this other picture as it includes some current riders who are hitting the big time in BMX racing. And there's another legend in there too.

steve
that was a great read for sure, but i was at that race in france when charlie 360d those doubles, no way were they 37 feet, more like 22ft.

Not many racers impressed me bitd but Andy ruffell and charlie Reynolds were awesome. I met Charlie a few times and he was super cool as you would expect. Andy and Charlie were 360ing the wooden jumps at the Olympia at full speed and super smooth.
