Ok obviously the organisers already have there hands full doing a cracking job with MK without us lot adding to it but if a few good ideas do surface at least it gives us a year to try and make them happen :daumenhoch:
Tell us your wildest dreams for Mk13, you never know, the bmx pixies may grant them ;D
I would love to see a couple of mobile quarter pipes for the freestylers amongst us. A couple either side of the helipad would be ace :4_17_5:
-
Something for the smaller 'kids' to do. Bouncy castle? (Hopefully we'll have the bikes next year so this won't be so much of an issue!)
My daughter said she'd like "one of those things that's tied between 2 trees and you can slide down!" I guess she meant a zip wire! ;D
-
I wouldn't mind a couple of Swedish Pole Dancers in the film tent....but i would settle for AKGOFF & Robbo :-*
-
Satanic knitting class.
-
all of the "babes of the day " to attend :smitten:
-
£5 each to tent on or near the helipad..all money towards our very own skip :daumenhoch:

Ahhhh thanks Al.
On my wish list be a cardboard cut out of Robbo instead of the real thing. ;D

one of them picture boards (maybe of a womble) were you stick you head threw and people pay a quid to throw wet sponges at you all day . `ive mentioned this to Adam Akgoff and hes more than happy to stick his head in the hole for everyones entertainment. this in itself would pay for M.K. ., Kappy said he'll stick his head in when Adam wants a rest :LolLolLolLol:

If it's as hot as this year I might volunteer
would be cheaper way to cool down vs eating a calippo every 10 minutes

what about a...
. survivor tent for all the survivor bikes to be shown?
. get this guy to come 'he practically invented bmx!! http://www.causes.com/causes/790253-scot-breithaupt-the-om-of-bmx
. have a slow race .i.e who can go the slowest in a race
. have a big bbq on saturday night for everyone to come to for a meal??
. have a donations box as you come into the show
. have a bike for sale area ' just for complete bikes 4 sale '
. have a program of events leaflet for sale for like 50p teling everyone what is happening over the weekend
thats all i can think of right now but maybe take 1 or 2 of these into account ?
cheers,
Jake

Need a Sunday ride out like Saturday night
-
Like the idea of a survivor tent and especially a little programme. Would make a great momento of the weekend and could have interviews, reviews, a little classified ad section perhaps, pics of radsters, radsters artwork etc. Could also have a raffle ticket stapled in the back :daumenhoch:
-
thats what i was thinking man :daumenhoch:

Tickle bru tent

After my success on the Saturday. I think a one day build off. Using parts sourced at mk would be fun. I managed to build a rider for well under a ton. So it wouldn't be costly if you knew it was going to happen in advance. Then there could be a category in the show and shine for it. Best bike built on the day
-
so u could nt even bring a frame from home or
-
The bike I raced was built on saturday from junk I bought at mk, £28 although I borrowed the PHS Duster FnF everything else was bought. Took me to 4th in the A Final........ anythings possible

Seeing as alot of it goes on anyway, an official MK13 Rad Glory hole tent would be great, it would relieve tension throughout the weekend.
JT Smooth would be the perfect person to oversee the planning and execution, he has excellent inter-personal skills

I MAY HAVE A FRAME OR PARTS?
Jake

I think you'll find that was already done last weekend :daumenhoch:

I would like a pre arranged group photo of all the people that attend for momento purposes. If planned properly we could do it either on the lake ride or in the top field or even on the track. The photo obviously could be taken by a Pro, 'winking' @ Leemadz or Mat.
-
a idea i wanted to do but never did this year due to time but something i always wanted to do is have a tent and have every year bmx in order ie from late 70`s through to 90`s .be cool to see how bmx changed over the years , a lot of work and something i can`t do on my own

could we make a ramp just a jump ramp like we all did most days when we were "young" just a board of wood on a barrel or big box or something ?

As already mentioned a survivors and/or riders category in the show & shine, any BMX any age and let the Radsters be the judges, the bike with the most votes wins.
I quite like the bike build off and one lap of the track idea, it could be a good team event with perhaps 3-4 people per team.
-
As already mentioned a survivors and/or riders category in the show & shine, any BMX any age and let the Radsters be the judges, the bike with the most votes wins.
Survivor class is virtually impossible to judge as how do the judges know what is truely as survivor or not? Also is the survivor a complete survivor bike, or survivor frame with survivor parts added? How do we really know that those parts are survivor not just some parts bought?
As for letting the radsters be the judges, we tried that a few years ago and somebody stole a load of the entry cards and voted for the same bike i.e. cheating.
-
Rusty rat class ? There seemed to be plenty rust at this years MK . It's all the rage in the VW scene at the mo .
Its a shame that radman don't judge . He knows his stuff . Pity his collection had not sufaced either .

Now that's funny Craig, the geezer don't know which way is up, we only wheel him out at MK for the comedy value

I was trying to bring a trick ramp but it didn't happen ... would be nice for next year to have some kind of ramps.
-
I take it the mysterious helipad kick-turn ramp didn't re-appear then Ed? Jeez that was pish funny at 2am with Carlos, Brummie, Sweatbeats and JonnyGoose. I just wish Hootski still had his quite large Transit and we could bring out little quaterpipe down then burn it on the saturday night as it's just sat here rotting at the side of my house still....
There were some quarters there a year or so ago but nobody was using them as they were in the gravel car-park. Lennie's lad was having a go I think from memory but the prospect of face-planting onto gravel was a bit off-putting so I left them alone.....
I love the Top Gear idea of racing a lap on a POS though, but as it's been said, who would set the Stig lap?

So the judges this year knew fook all about BMX's then?
-
Next year we will be looking at the whole process and i am sure we will come up with something that annoys some people and keeps some people happy, as this years abviously did.
I expect it will involve some moaning and bitching again , but we will try to come up with something more inclusive and more representative of peoples views , but as peoples veiws are different I am sure someone will be not happy.
oh well as it is a bit of fun I guess we should be concentrating on that rather than anything else
the vote for a winner is in theory a good idea , but as some clown bike won with shed loads of votes all in the same hand writing we will not be doing that again as someone felt the need to blatantly cheat and win a trophy even though the bike was not worthy of winning, kinda like playing a blind man at tennis whilst having 20/20 vision sad and a hollow victory
so lets all look forward to 2013 with some proper passion for building old bikes rather than moaning about something that for most was a great compettion
-
Its a shame that radman don't judge . He knows his stuff . Pity his collection had not sufaced either .
So the judges this year knew fook all about BMX's then?
nope but radman didn't enter a bike . You can't enter a competition and judge at the same time .
-
You can if you do not judge your own bike , and i judged these so there you go you little mahogany monkey :) and i didnt enter my bike as it was so good I would have won, plus my trophy shelf is full of MK trophys that I judged myself :daumenhoch:
-
Vote waxin :-*
-
Radman don't wanna judge, don't give a fook about old school Bmx, he's got a cool new hobby now that takes his time up, 20 minutes on the machines at the gym...........sweet machine, drinks machine, sandwich machine
-
He just wants to be me
-
Jesus man he struggles with his huge head already, had to rest it on my shoulder on the ride, no fooking way will he be able to manage that monster melon of yours
-
You can't enter a competition and judge at the same time .
I know where you are coming from here. And I completely understand how it 'may' look to some.
I don't really think I need to justify my Profile cruiser as a medal winner (after 5 years of putting it in the SnS - not winning and not complaining either, just going away and working on it more, so that after 3 complete rebuilds I think it was a good contender) , I didn't vote on it, so I was just as elated as the other SnS winners to find out that it had taken a trophy.
And yes I was faced with the decision to either decline judging or not enter my bikes this year, however like others I also spent a lot of time and effort putting my bikes together over the last year, I put all of my bikes in and paid the maximum fee (even though I knew that they weren't going to win, because it meant extra money for the site and more bikes on display for the weekend) But I also really wanted to take up the offer of judging....
I think I did both very fairly....

The entrant could provide a spec sheet for the bike declaring what is survivor and what is not perhaps. Okay it is relying in the entrant to be truthful or is that too much to ask?
I guess that you might have already answered my question about people being truthful from the previous experience of allowing the radsters to be judges, what is wrong with people?
Another idea, what about a random class for bikes that do not fit into the existing classes. As for the judging, if you enter a bike in the random class then you get one vote and you can only vote for another bike. No one else votes except for entrants, most votes win.

Griff,
For what it's worth, I have a dive trip to Norway provisionally booked for summer 2014 already................. :daumenhoch:
..................... Fortunately, it is nowhere near the MK14 date, unless it ends up in July! :knuppel2:
Honestly? Being 40 metres under water with a stiff mix of NitrOx and 30 metres visibility on a WW2 German Battleship surpasses anything BMX will ever give me due to my mediocre (throw cash at it) building and poor (180, 180, 180) riding. :-\
I am quite proud of my diving career and skills; unfortunately I can't say the same for my BMX career and skills. I love both, but where I really excel, and therefore buzz, is underwater.
Regardless, I have met a lot of my favourite people in life since I got back into BMX and discovered you lot, and so I ain't about to flit, but diving in the UK will always be my priority. :-[
Sorry,
Rant over,
Clean.

Don't be such a tw@t, of course you can, I didn't have anything to do with any categories that my bikes were in, same as Dan and Ash. Just because you see dishonesty and conspiracies everywhere doesn't actually mean that anything dishonest happened. Some people (which includes myself) are honest and fair.
I didn't even want to enter my bikes in the S&S as I was judging but was persuaded by others to do so.

After this years line up I think we should maybe have a 'Custom Old School Class'.
There were some beautiful bikes in the the S'n'S this year that were first class in their own rights but failed to medal because they had custom modifications to them that weren't old school mods.
I also think we could do with a Custom class, bmx & non bmx related, as there seems quite a few people here are customising bikes other than bmx's now.

I'd go along with this. I also think that there were lots of bikes that looked excellent, but didn't stand a chance of winning anything as they didn't conform strictly to traditional old school rules/factory specs. I know all skyway t/a's are technically custom builds as there was never a complete bike, but there seems to be a generally accepted view of what parts are acceptable to include on the build.

Very good idea Dan :daumenhoch:

the hardest part though is policing/grouping these 'custom bikes' what makes a bike a custom? a TA as already stated was only sold as a F+F so in a sense they are all custom?
by having groups by year it is much easier to catagorise them.
Do you have a 'custom' group for each catagory? that way you'll have bloody loads of them

I was thinking more on the lines of an anything goes
Custom Rides - BMX or not (to include modern modifications, non factory colours, low-riders etc. etc. etc.)
really anything that otherwise doesn't fall into any of the present categories but has 2 pedals some wheels and a chain drive....

Please don't take this as a criticism, we loved every minute of it but...
I thought the racing clashed a bit with the show & shine on Sunday and there wasn't really enough time to see the awarded bikes.
I don't know if they'd be time for this but maybe the judging could be done Sunday morning and awards given out before the racing starts??
This could give people more time to see the winning bikes and focus on the racing. Maybe a S&S winners enclosure as well....
It's just a thought like ??? ;)
-
^^ good idea that Paul, although pretty much everyone's still trashed Sunday morning :LolLolLolLol: Be nice then to have all the winning bikes lined up together

Paul
As one of the S&S organisers and judges from last year (and I don't take your comments as a critism in any way), I can tell you the reasons why it isn't possible to get all the S&S done in the morning.
Firstly we have to get everybody to register their bikes (pre-reg doesn't work, we have tried), this took about 3 hours at MK12. Trouble is as most people have been drinking (heavily) on Saturday night and were not registering anything until the last moment (I even let registration run for an extra 30 mins due to the amounts of semi-p*ssed people wanting to register late).
It then seems to take ages for the people to get their bikes ready to bring to the S&S tent, we also had to organise everybody's bikes which took another 1-2 hours.
Then we had to judge the bikes, which took the 4 judges about 1 1/2 hours to go around all of the bikes. Then the judges had to pow-wow to work out the winners and places in each section. We then had to get the results to the announcer, which as soon as we did the results were announced, it was that close to running over time.
I can honestly say that I didn't stop running around from about 8am until the S&S was announced at 3.30pm.
It is virtually impossible to get it done any quicker as there are so many bikes to register, show, judge and announce.

Fair doos. It sounds like a right ball-ache  :-\
I guess the only thing to do would be to roll over MK13 into a Monday.
;D :coolsmiley: ;)
