Title: Tuf Neck Ace stem problem solved
Post by: Rob1 on August 26, 2012, 02:42 PM
Has anyone else had this problem ? A Tuf Neck Ace stem with the big bolt installed ; the top cap won`t line up and I can`t get my bolts in . Looks like this :

I didn`t really want to take any material out of the top cap to get it to line up . So a bolt was made with a slightly smaller head and there it is , job done :

Picture showing slight difference in head size . I think the original was 15/16" , the new one is 7/8" . Stainless too so will polish up a treat !

There it a distict possibilty that the bolt had been replaced at some point with a whitworth bolt instead of UNC hence the head being 2 big  :D The threads r very similar  ::)

I concur I think thats a standard stem top that may have been modified 2 suit, and the cut out isn't big enough ?
