Hi,
This is my 1986 Zeronine Pro XL build. It was a long build taking near on 18 months to complete with all the correct parts. The clothing was the hardest parts to collect. I don't do many builds as i'm prepared to be patient with my parts selection. I've used as many rare parts here as possible.
It's a 1986 Zeronine pro XL frameset
Powerlite Pro bars
Ame bubble font grips
Dia Compe Tech 3
Dia Compe MX 1000
Dia Compe 1986 stamped rear cable
NOS Zeronine ribbed pads
Tuf neck stem
DK headlock
Redline 401 cranks
TTK pedals
Ambrosio rims
Arai 8000 chair hubs
NOS Tioga comp 8 tyres
Donut seat clamp
Renthal straight seatpost
Shotgun 2 saddle
Zeronine moto control plate
Mirage power disc
Sugino machined chainring 44T
Suntour freewheel 16T

Now the clothing, some of you would have seen it previously but here it is again for those that haven't seen it. I don't have any pictures of it on a home made mannequin sadly as i didn't take any photos at MK.

Propper bike that And, remember seeing pics of this what seems like a year ago and it looked stunning then but now it's amazing. Well worth all the hastle and time taken to get this finished pal, and IMO it's better to be a slow builder than knock a build out every month. Really well done pal :4_17_5:
-
My fave bike for a long long time... absolutely stunning in every way.
I wish I'd taken more pics of it at MK12... perhaps stood her on the track and got some nice arty pics. :coolsmiley:
-
I said it on the museum and I will say it again here. Pics don't do this bike justice. Hands down the best build I have seen in a very, very long time, if not ever. :4_17_5:
-
Very nice build mate :4_17_5:

as gay as a fruit my shandy drinking friend :-*
Yay ::)
Perhaps it needed to have some sun tan lotion rubbed in to it Mary for you to enjoy it. :coolsmiley:
Cheers for the positive comments chaps :4_17_5: :4_17_5: Reading them makes it all worth while.
Again a pretty budget build, other than the frameset and cranks, nothing cost over £50 which were the pads, the rest of the stuff was under £40.
One build left in me i think although i do have 2 framesets here, i have another Rickman that i may do in to a rider and then i'll sell the freeagent.
I'll start on the Profile Champ Pro when i can be sort of bothered....... No rush like Joff said although i do have 95% of the parts, i think the only thing i'm missing is a set of early 80's black grips. ( Oakley ????)

Andy, your decals are '87, your frame may be '86. Have a look inside the seatstays and chainstays top and bottom., if there are little holes inside then you have an EARLY '87 Taiwanese made frame, the later Taiwanese ones had a gussett at the headtube/downtube.
Mine pictured here is also a Taiwanese made 87 but has the original 86 decals on (that I had to have painstaking made) as the lack of gussett means it could pass for an 86.
The only true Cyclecraft made 86 bike I know still around is Pete Middletoms old white one, that's what i borrowed to get the stickers copied. That is my actual plate from 86 and pretty much the spec I had give or take.

And a pic of my actual bike from 86 with CW bars. I hope you don't mind me adding my pics to your topic!

And I still have all my factory rider kit too.....

Oh in that case then seeing as you have 95% of the parts i'll reduce my original completed build estimation from 2 to 3 years down to 1 year ;) :D
If it turns out half as nice as this one it will be another one to be proud of mate :coolsmiley:

Last pic Andy, me and Darren Wood messing about at Slough. Weird to think I have kept that racegear for over 25 years.....

The stickers are an exact copy of the original ones that were on the bike Clive. As you know it was Andy Pope's old one that i bought off him.
Serial number is T6100532. Andy told me it was his from 1986. There are holes though like you say and it is gussetless.
I got a lot of my info from the French guys. Also Frogbmx did the stickers and he confirmed everything.

Don't mind at all Clive, i know you're all things Zeronine :4_17_5: and to be honest i loved all your gear back in the day hence why when one came available i didn't hesitate in building one. Your stuff was my inspiration to be honest.
Hope you like it anyhow :coolsmiley:
-
love it
-
stunning build mate, been struggling to finish any builds for about 6 - 8 months but this gives me the inspiration to put mtb down and finish what i started :daumenhoch:
-
Love that bike its a really different and clean build :daumenhoch:
Is it tempting to put on all the race gear and blast it round the track like its 86 ?
-
Totally awesome Andy :4_17_5: :daumenhoch:
-
stunning truly stunning :smitten:
-
Yep, a Taiwanese one like mine Andy (but mine is masquarading as a US built '86)!
I was lucky to have the first ever Zeronine in the UK, that was a black pro, USA Cyclecraft made with matching pants/shirt/bag which I got from Hot Wheels Graham Merry at a trade show in November 85. Technically yours could be a 1986 Andy as these later Taiwanese ones (with the 'confetti' graphics came out end of 86 as an 87 Model.
This is me racing the USA made black pro at Bercy '86:
Then we got the '87 bike and blue race gear, this is me on it at the World Chamos in Orlando '87. Notice the lack of gusset on this early one.
After that I raced for Revcore but two happy years with Zeronine, so much so that I had them as a sponsor when I raced for Revcore, I still have two custom made one off Zeronine Revcore race pants under the bed!
