Hey there, been off the scene for quite some time now due to money troubles etc but over the last few weeks, as summer somes to an end, i seem to have come accross a few finds which i think might be a bit nice!! :)
Ive found a grifter, 79, in red which is pretty as it is, needs a clean up but all round a good tredda. so need need to discuss that really but BMX's............a few that i have got, i know nothing about, nothing about how to re-build them or whats missing/wrong etc.
1 i think is a haro on metal hubbed tuff 2's. but ill let the pics do the talking. Frame number 84103687
The second is totally unknown, with very weird mag wheels.....with drum brakes??? No frame number apparent.
Heres the pics, any advice, makes, how they should be built etc would be ever so much appreciated.
Thanks

Chrome one is a Haro Master but god knows what the other one is? ???
-
Any idea on age of The haro???
The frame number is there but i cannot find anything out relating a year??
I want to know how to build it stock
-
No i'm not a Haro expert, it has the wrong forks though i know that for sure :daumenhoch:
-
Yeah a mate of mine told me that yesterday, wrong forks (unsure of make), wrong bars, wrong seat.
Bit of a mish-mash really but a few nice parts.
So id love to build it right as im sick of building sh*ters!
About time i built something proper :)
-
At a guess its an 3rd Gen' 84 Haro Master often referred to as the overseas Master. As Pickle says wrong forks though

I hope you've got deep pockets then mate, as the forks alone are going to cost a fair bit.
-
Yeah monies no big issue, it can be a slow build if need be.
Any idea on the other bike anybody???
-
The red one is just some cheap POS but the mags are quite cool. It has the worst bubblegum welds I've seen in a long time and it looks like some numpty welded the rear dropouts on the wrong way up. :wtf:
The Haro is a nice find though. You could fit some landing gear forks or similar to get you up and running while you search for some proper Haro forks. 8)
-
Ok cool cheers pal
Im going to start stripping and cleaning today.
Rather excited.
Ill probably just bang the other one on the bay, i think somebody may like it for the mags alone??

Maybe putting the mags in their own auction might be a better idea as that frame is a real horror show and might put people off. :daumenhoch:

The first one is a Mud Cruncher for sure. That isnt its OE stem, and ITM SR-a-like was supplied. I think they were about £60 through corner shops in '83.
-
A mud cruncher??
Thats the most awful name for something that im sure would snap on impact hahaha!!
Anybody got a pic of them??
-
if it is a Mudcruncher then Phil (Sawzall) would love that!! :daumenhoch:

Sawzall's pic shows a gusset that is slightly curved with two holes and the build quality doesn't look quite so woeful so I'm guessing that red frame ain't one of them. Still an unidentified POS ATM.

Am clue less then lol.

The master is a first generation one (don't get mixed up with a gen 1 freestyler)
Yours was born on October 1984. :daumenhoch:

I thought gen 1 & gen 2 were freestylers. They weren't called master until 1984. So it would be a gen 1 master in my eyes. But you could also say it was a gen 3 as it followed the same frame type as the freestyler. I hope this clears up the confusion. :)

haha are you sure stu?
there was only a gen 1 freestyler. they modified the gusset due to them breaking hence the mark 1 and mark 2. both gen 1 freestylers all the same
yes in 84 the master was released but in 3 gens for that year
gen 1 us torker made master
gen 2 us torker made master
gen 3 tai anlun made master
