I`ve got a Hoffman clamp on stem , I`ve no idea where it came from . I thought it was 1 1/8" but it turns out it is a 1" clamp on .
Is it worth any dough or any use to anyone ?
-
itll fit on s&m stupid forks :daumenhoch:
-
Can I see a picture of it please ???
I've got some 1" Hoffman Super Forks :)
-
There you go . It needs a clean up and some new bolts but it`s all there....

Where you go ???
I have 2 sets of early Superforks but one has a narrower clamp area....neither of my stems fit!!! nothing a cola can won`t fix but would be curious to know the exact size...is it stamped?
-
i have had oodles of these some fit some dont, they get crushed and go a bit out of shape
they all fitted in the end but needed a little fabrication/
-
Ah sorry, I see the pic now ::)
My forks are different diameter above the thread, both stems are the same. I think one pair is earlier with smaller peg bosses...I guess Hoffman stuff came as it could back then :D
-
there were 2 different versions of that stem, one was for the last threaded 1inch version of the superforks (the first tai versions) which had the smaller hole.
and the one right after it,which looks identical (but has a bigger hole)which was used for the threadless 1 inch superforks which were right before the 1 1/8th stuff came out.

The 2 I've got are ramp room with first gen stems, 2 different size forks, both 1" ???

Looks like a later Taiwan stem with the angled cap, not many 1" stems floating about though, not that I've seen. I imagine it's not worth a great deal, but sure somebody would jump on it. Sorry if we hijacked your post :daumenhoch:
-
I sold one with these forks for £45 a few weeks ago

Here's the offending ones I have...don't fit either of my stems(saying that, they're both the same :D) funny clamping area compared with my other set...or any others I can see. Peg bosses are small and steerer is machined differently ???

....oooo.k then...that must mean they're superdooper rare if nobody has a clue, wohooo :D ...back in the loft they go.
-
They look like non clamp on with a extra bit on the top....random!

I did wonder if that was it, but I reckon the only threaded forks they made with small peg bosses were early Condor ones and the dropouts are much longer on those.
-
they're the very first superforks :daumenhoch:

Cheers egg...I take it the stem would have been the same as any other early version, only with a tighter hole to house my narrow shaft?
-
you got it.i think the stem for it is the one in condor96's pic.if i remember right they were slightly smaller than 1"
i guess clamp on stems were new so there was no industry standard then :daumenhoch:

Yes & also the headset was 1" so these would have been slightly smaller so you could get the headset on :daumenhoch:
