Title: wheel identification?
Post by: FOUR1THREE0 on October 02, 2012, 02:55 PM
Hi all,

Had a trip over to my folks house last weekend, while i was there i thought i would take a look in my old shed as i was sure there was still a box of old parts kicking around. Unfortunatley all my stuff has long gone but i was suprised to find these rims buried at the back. I seem to remember them coming on a 2nd hand supergoose my friend bought out the local paper.
They look quite unusual with the holes in the rims but have no stamps anywhere. The hubs have 'suzue 4d lpf' stamped on them. There a bit beaten up. Not knowing anything about old school stuff especially race i thought i would put it to you lot to find out if they are worth saving.

I don't know how to date the hubs from that code, the 4 may indicate 1984?? ???

This makes sense as they are the same hubs and rims that were standard on my '84 Supergoose 3. :daumenhoch:

4 = 1984

D = April

LPF = Low Profile Flange (I think)

The date is correct though. Suzue started making hubs for Shimano in 1978 for BMX and the Shimano date code comes from Suzue so, just use that for early Suzue reference  :daumenhoch:

Thanks for info guys. i plan to give them a good clean up and sell them. As cool as they are there not of any use on any of my builds. They are in pretty bad shape though a few dings on the rims!
