85 VDC 24" Gorilla Cruiser Frameset with ORIGINAL 80's VDC Cruiser Monkey Bars, 1 of 4 known sets worldwide. The parts list on this thing is going to take a while because what I want is not readily available so I'm going to have to be a little patient but suffice to say, it's gonna be an absolute corker.
The set has come to me from Shane Fone in the US (VBiker) and Martin Pimmental before him so short of having the original reciept the provenance of the bars are as good as it gets.
Hope you like it.
Adam
Gotta say a MASSIVE thanks to Steve and Mick on this frameset, you guys rock. :daumenhoch:

-
You did well baggin that one
Whats happened to the rear dropout ???
-
I bet Steve can't wait to put this together. Lush to the power of Sick X 1bill.
-
That looks good enough to eat!! Love that colour :smitten:
-
Whats happened to the rear dropout ???
Looks like it's been Parcel Forced. They did that to a frame which was being sent back to me after being coated in lovely candy powder. They mangled both of my dropouts though. ::)
I straightened the dropouts but the powder was fecked so it had to be done again. I also had to cough for another lot of postage. :knuppel2:
-
Now thats the bollock mate. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

That is some quality metal there Adam, can't wait to see it built up :daumenhoch:
-
Wow, thanks chaps. I was indeed very very lucky to be in a position to acquire this and from a super cool seller too.
To answer a few questions:
It is a lovely colour which I don't believe is original but it's irrelevant anyway as its getting stripped and going black. (my wife says black is best )
The rear drop outs have been 'Parcel Forced' so will have to be straightened out a little. Fookin idiots.
Steve will be in his element building this beauty
Ash, you know I've been looking for a Studd stem although that one looks like a mini stem. I'll take it in a heartbeat though. A Galindo stem would be rather nice too. Flashy crowd indeed. Thats Norms GJS Big Tube the Studd stem is resting on is it not?
I have got a set of real nice Sonlites in stock but I want to go a little higher end than that, I have a deal in progress for something a little special.
I would love a set of 24" Ambrosio rims If i can find a set in hard anno.
I already have the following:
Frameset and bars
SST Command post
Prodyne seat post clamp (again 1 of 4 known to exist world wide)
Studd chainwheel
Studd chainwheel bolts
Not doing very well at the moment :'(
Wish list:
Either a set of Aerospeeds or maybe a set of single drive Clemtwin cranks
Phil Wood spider
VDC BB
Shotgun ll (not a chequered one)
Suntour MP100 pedals with VDC cage extenders
Ambrosio Hard anno rims
Studd or Galindo stem
If anyone can help with any of the above please let me know.
Cheers
Adam

Lovely Adam, I'm glad you're changing the colour, I don't think that red looks right especially with the chrome decals :-\

-
MXR Hubs ?
-
adam hope you listen to steve when you build this and dont go putting some thing shite on it like you have in the past like coluored tyres etc
i havent been on here for a bit but im gona tell people straight (non of those campag hubs that noone ever used either ) too many people on here who lick ass (you know who you are)
and theres also loads on here who never raced or did some freestyle in their life
oooosh im back :2funny:
-
Sweet Adam, looking forward to seeing this one mate :daumenhoch:
-
Can't wait to stroke this one :smitten:
And the sooner those shite decals come off the better.
The biggest problem i'll face (other than trying to convince Adam that not all that's rare is good) will be giving it back when it's built :(

This one is gonna be a knockout Neil, I know the exact spec already. Sheriff Stars are beautiful Hubs but far too dainty for this beast.

Very nice i just love VDC bikes :daumenhoch:

So have you an estimated build cost?

You've gotta be kidding. :idiot2: I wouldn't need to pay that on a fully loaded Intense M9.

Date wise they're perfect mate but not sure if anyone used them on Cruisers. Would there be a reason not to though Glynn?

Think Glynn means that by 1985 it had been worked out that aerospeeds were rubbish and no one was using them.
At that time most cruiser riders were the BIG guys, aerospeeds were pretty fragile.

Adam....... Some inspiration

Gotcha, the latter part does make sense although this will not get ridden hard by any stretch of the imagination so for me, visually it has to be right, possibly at the slight detriment of racing abilities.

Adam I made it out as a question because I haven't done enough home work on it to give a fully educated answer.
The points rooski made were actually what was running through my mind though.
Gen 3 profiles and 401's I know were strong enough and being used but I wasn't sure on aerospeeds .
As Andy said I know the cruiser riders were the big guys and their crank choices reflected that.
(As I started to find out when looking into it a little recently 8) )

Very good advice John-boy but i already have it, you need to work on him so it's for keeps ^"^
-
Adam virtually no one used aero speeds due to the fact they were crap, they look good but pretty useless profiles are the way to go fella
