as you can see in the photos the chrome on the frame has suffered over years so ive built it as a survivor build and used well used parts to try and make it look like thats how its been for years
-
:4_17_5: always wanted one of these , looks bomb proof , perfec mid shiny ride :daumenhoch: i'd swap the stem for dimple though :daumenhoch:
-
Nice build Kev :daumenhoch:
Are you gonna add stickers?
Get it on the scales ;D
-
Awesome build. Now get some decals on it. 8)
-

-
have no scales but its gotta be around 40lbs
not sure on decals yet, i can get the og ones which were peeled off by a friend and have repo ones made from them, did send steve geal a message on facebook to see if he still had any but got no reply
-
Love these. Can't think of the chap at mk who had a sweet one. And I just love those forks. Just like the wal ones
-
That chap was I(hope it was anyway or I'll look a tit)
Nice build Kev, I do think the decals really set these off though.
I thought of getting some made but ended up doin my own, not difficult.
I've got my sketches about, I'll send you them when I get in.
-
Lovely that, especially without stickers :smitten:. I think you should lower the seat though ;D
-
cheers skidmark :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
seatpost height is actually spot on for me!!!

Looks cool
who'd win in a fight do you reckon between your Zima and My old/Webbies Cromo 2hip pork?
It'd be close, I'll have a pound each way on the pork though!

If I didn't have a WAL I'd want a ZIMA :4_17_5:
-
Thats ace :4_17_5:
40lbs of testosterone grunt.. bet that fooker laughs at crosswinds :daumenhoch:
-
cheers guys
rear hub was down to olly spotting it on ebay built into a araya super 7x rim for £55 posted
i needed the rear hub for this build and i needed 1 super 7x rim to make a pair for a future project so was perfect :daumenhoch:
-
Really nice! For some reason I just dont remember these?
-
Oh yeah baby. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Steve geall would be proud. :4_17_5:

ok ill see u there, no greg? is he ashamed to show his face :LolLolLolLol:

Nice bike ! Your forks are different to mine . Mine have a little Z engraved on the top of the leg near the crown race .

-
I'm helping everyone out this week, who's going to help me and find me a seat and some pedals:LolLolLolLol:
-
ahh i forgot all about those ones!
i had a pair like yours in the mid 90's
i dont know if steve geall just made those ones as forks only or maybe they were a slightly later design to go with the adjustable seatpost zimas
-
thats a very cool build,
I like it,
dear god that frame and forks are ugly though, esp the forks and seat post,
got to love it for that,
Geall would be proud eh?
-
I think it's a really cool looking f/f not ugly at all but each to there own I suppose :daumenhoch:
-
Nice :daumenhoch: I really like the design of the Zima frame......apart from the diameter of that fixed post!
-
I love em'...they're so far the other end of the scale from main stream bikes, proper quirky! now I have 2 :crazy2:
Speaking forks, 1 set has a Z stamped in the dropouts(no funny crown) and the others have no stamp, but have that wacko crown ???
Not sure what the deal is if I'm honest. I hear the forks had issues so maybe 1 type was an improvement over the other?
-
the frame design/seat tube dosent really bother me
what gets me is the angle of the forks/head tube and the seat tube ;D ;D ;D
-
what gets me is the angle of the forks/head tube and the seat tube ;D ;D ;D
I kept thinking that, looks like the whole bike is leaning backwards,
what the head angle? relaxed?
-
as relaxed as laying on the sofa on a sunday afternoon drinking beer and watching the grand prix :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
Nice build Kev
My fav bits of the Zima frame were:
- The little "Z" created by the asymmetric chainstay/BB joint.
- The way the seat stay goes OVER the top of the dropout making it almost impossible to bend (I stole this idea on a Mod I did to my Mk1 Dirtbike).
- I also Like the way the fork leg tubes stick out, just below the bearing race (so you didnt have to bend the fork legs as much). I forget who did that first, Zima or King, but they were both like it

mine arent like that alex, think my frame and fork were a early batch (build no 43 iirc) but i do remember having a set of zima forks like you describe so steve geall must of changed the design of the forks at some point
-
Oh yeah, so they ain't.
I'm sure some of them (early ones?) Had the peg mounts lower than the wheel axle. Thy made toothpicks easier! .
Weren't some WAL forks like that too?
-
yeah all the wal forks were like that
not sure about the early zimas, mines quite early and the peg boss is only just below the dropout
we need steve geall on this thread to answer our questions :LolLolLolLol:
-
Im sure I remember Tim Ruck having a go on Steves first bike (or one of the early ones) and being so happy he could do toothpicks on it. He said he was gunna order one straight away.
Then there was the peg catch incident at one of the Backyard Jams when Steve's front pegs caught the the edge of the step up jump behind the mini ramp.
(Ive messaged Steve with this link. Lets see if he brings his Zima knowlage over)
-
I'm in the Z Club
