In light of Adiers bad news and given the rising value and interest in old school is it worth having some sort of serial registry on here? I know i could get complicated with bikes changing hand frequently but surely its worth putting names to serials. Even if that name is an old one, it gives the community and the police a starting point when stolen stuff turns up or is suspected.
Go on .... how many of you know your serial numbers, i know i dont :-[
-
I know all of mine...go on, test me...!
-
How would i know you were not just reading out your electricity meter reading ;D

Dont sound very secure for your rides ???
-
Yup mine are all logged, even all the ones tucked away in storage :daumenhoch:

Dont sound very secure for your rides ???
Its ok as I have a note taped to each bike that says 'Do not touch'

One day i hope to be as clever as you :daumenhoch:

Just me without his serial numbers then? :-[
-
i don't think it's a bad idea...better than having it written down on a scrap of paper at home, just waiting to be lost.
-
I'd go for that bro. Haven't a scooby on my serials, well, until a little while ago :coolsmiley:
-
Thinking about it a bit more it could be quite a simple form E.g
Name :
Address/postcode:
Serial number:
distinguishing markings:
Date purchased:
Photo ( serial & whole frame )
The details could be hidden once submitted so others couldnt rip them off and the presence on here plus the submission date would support your claim to ownership if the theiving tw@ts tried to claim them as their own.
Dunno.... just seems a logical idea to me and if it only helped one Radster out is has to be worth it. :-\
-
Good idea. Doing something is better than doing nothing. :daumenhoch:
-
Tbh that's the only reason I put my bikes on the museum, already lost my bit of paper
-
Museum is good for keeping your serial number(s) on file . I normally take pictures of mine and download onto my pc.
-
Great idea! My dp GL is logged on the firebird website. It might be worth having the ownership details on the photo too. That might put people off swiping your picture and saying it's theirs. Well until they chop that bit out in paint!
Where would the details go, in the me & my bikes section?
-
I like the idea Clint, wouldn't it be easier to have a section to submit the serial number every time you put a new build up?,so the serial is on display as well as the bike? :daumenhoch:the dates would still correspond.I havn't a clue what my serials are!
-
Yeah some sort of attachment to me and my bikes is the logical way of going about it. Not sure whether having your serials available for all to see is a good thing or not :-\

yeah, not a bad shout.Available to the owner of the bike but not publicly on display.Might be able to be used for wrong purposes somewhere :daumenhoch:
