Lost my train of thought :-\
Whats the difference between the Non Looptail 84 Kuwi Nova & 84 Kuwi Laserlite. ???
Thanks :daumenhoch:

On the laserlite the down tube is round and the TT is slightly oval. Both tubes are the same thickness though.
On the fishtail nova both are round and the TT is noticeably thinner than the down tube. :daumenhoch:

Great, thanks. :daumenhoch:
Did the laserlite have a flat brake bridge and the nova a round :-\

There are several differences.
Can't remember them off hand as its been ages since I've looked into it, , but have a google...there's loads on it.

No they were both the same, flat kuwahara stamped brake bridge.
Both had kuwahara stamped down the seat tube and both had K stamped rear dropouts.

Hmm.
My nova doesn't have anything on the seat tube.
Neither does my greyserlite, or the lasershite.
My chrome laserlite does though.
There were also changes in tube shape on laserlites from memory.
There is more to this that meets the eye.

I've got an 84 laserlite and a supernova.. Thought they were the same frames. Both got stamped drop outs and kuwahara on the down tube. Turns out they've got differant down tubes. Striping down the nova tomorrow for SBD to work his wonders. I'll have a look :daumenhoch:

Reason I asked was, I was concerned if people could pass a 84 Nova off as a 84 Laserlite.
Its easy to spot the difference between an 83 Nova and 83 Laserlite.

I had an 84 nova and have an 84 laserlite, I bought the nova 1st thinking it was a laserlite.
I then found out about the tube thickness differences. When a bought the laserlite and had them both in my hands the only note able differance was the tubing as they were both stamped in the same places with the same bridge.
You could pass one off only to someone new to the hobby as I was at the time. The slightly thinner tube on the nova is the give away.
I think I still have the eBay pics of the nova I will have a look to see if you can make out the tube differance from them.

there are subtle difference.
but as glynn says the main one is the top tube on the nova which is an 1/8" smaller in diameter to the down tube and round.
also not really noticeable to naked eye but angles are different
laserlite - seat tube 73.5* head tube 73*
nova - seat tube 74* head tube 72.5*
also the rear triangle of the nova was still hi tensile steel

The best pic i could find was of it after it had been painted. I think you can just about make out the tt is slightly thinner than the down tube. If you use dc cable clamps on them you would also notice that you need the next size up for the laserlite.
So laserlite is oval and fat
Nova is round and thinner. :daumenhoch:
