What race tyres would you put on a 82 skyway TA ? . thinking of doing a Andy patterson replica, does anyone know what he used? cheers :daumenhoch:
-
Whatever takes your fancy!
Comp II or III, IRC...
-
Didn't think Stu Thomsen rode for Skyway.... thought he rode for SE Racing, then Redline and then Huffy? :idiot2:
-
Oh, you've edited the title of your thread...!
-

The May 83 issue of Super BMX has a Skyway test with Andy Patterson which I think includes a spec of his personal bike.

That mag was a great issue :4_17_5:
As with all of the riders , doing a replica can change from magazine to magazine .
Because for a good year or so Patterson rode CW pro bars .
Although he did tend to stick with Flights ,Kashi Aero and KKT Ratt traps :)
Did Stu Thomsen ride a Streetbeat then ???
:LolLolLolLol:

Yep, you're right there Chris. :daumenhoch:

Here's a replica for you , quite close to the spec in the 1983 SuperBMX article , again this spec would have changed at another race meeting ::)
Check the custom extended Skyway pedals

Nice one for that chaps, did he ever ride a white TA? :daumenhoch:
-
Ive seen him on a white one but that was when he was a junior.
In early '84 I know he had Skyway forks, red Kashi Aero, KKT RT, blue MX1000/lever w/red cable, black A'me, CW Pro :daumenhoch:

Would he also have used the Andy Patterson signature Tuffs? Or we're they just a UK issue that they released after he left Skyway and pissed him off?

Yes he would have used his own Tuffs. He left Skyway mid '84 & began riding for JMC.
-
Andy Patterson signature Tuffs aren't Graphites ::)
and every pic you tend to see him riding Grafs , factory rider issue ::) :-\
I've got a feeling they must have been produced not long before he left 84
Snav has a white set on his 84 RL20 Prostyler
Patterson did the same at JMC though, got a signature frame made and then jacked
hence both products having a short run and now rarer items :crazy2:
