Title: Most suitable crank for an 83 loopy ripper
Post by: ammacopij72 on October 16, 2012, 11:06 PM
Got the option of a takagi tourney 170 or sugino ct 175 3pc, what would be the More era correct crank for an 83 ripper?

Cheers in advance,

Neil

100% agree, a one piece will look so much better than either of the cranks you listed.

As Sean and Dave said  :4_17_5:

Or If you're dead set on one of the two mentioned ,,it has to be the Takagi Tourney  it's the right era and race specific really :daumenhoch:

The CT was seen on builds from more mid eighties, race or freeestyle being chromo mo and produced 84 onwards  :)

Campy's are gorgeous but too damn sexy for a PK Ripper  :LolLolLolLol:

If we are talking ANY cranks for a Ripper  ::)

Ripper have chunky frames so need a chunky crank  :smitten:

Shimano DX

I had a Sugino Maxy Cross 3 piecer in blue back in '83 on my Ripper and it never let me down and i.m.o. looked great. I've got a Tioga 1 piece on my current loopy Ripper, still looks cool.

Dont mean to thread hijack.

I know these use 13/16 seat posts but do they need a special size seat clamp?

I've a 1983 SE PK Ripper restored  and I mounted a Profile first. Then, I  switched to a Takagi OPC, saved the Shimano DX (just changed the axles) and I've to say that's more nice now with the OPC, albeit I'm a Profile cranks lover !
