Should all chrome 4130 Haro freestyle bars have 4130 stamped on them ?
-
No I don't think so, normally just a decal :daumenhoch:

Look Ok to me. Compare the weld pattern to the ones I sent you.
I've also had Haro race bars some stamped SAE4130 and some just with the decal on.

Some of the late 85 and 86 bars had stamping under the grips. Im pretty sure I had a set that had 4130 stamped in that area.
-
I got taught a trick to flick the tubing, if it tings its cromo, if it tuds it steel.
-
my ones have 4130 anlun on them just under where the grips would be :daumenhoch:

For all those seeking information on Haro Master Bars I found this last year when building mine.......
"The earliest versions were almost all stamped, that I know of - with either of the stampings described above. The best I could guess on a chronological list would be this...
FIRST GENERATION:
STAMPED: "ANLUN, SAE 4130" early 1985 : I'm assuming these were the very first bars made - only because these bars seemed to specifically come on the earliest Master and Sports that didn't have the knurling on the chainstays, had the bigger downtube gussets, etc. I covet these type of frames so I like these bars - they aren't easy to find. As a side note, the original smooth ANLUN-stamped laid back seatposts were also probably shipping on these early 85 Masters / Sports - the posts are just as rare, in my opinion.
SECOND GENERATION
STAMPED: "HARO, SAE 4130" early to mid 1985 - this is where the lengths, heights, backweep, and upsweep started to go all over the place. Honestly, it doesn't even make sense to me because there are so many differences. I have yet to see any kind of pattern. This is also the time when knurling started changing, some split, some solid, some had NONE.
THIRD GENERATION
STAMPED: "HARO 4130", "SAE 4130" - I'm going to assume late 85 to all 86's. The geometry continues to fluctuate wildly. This is also where the "tapered leg" bars begin to appear. In my humble opinion, the tapered leg bars of this era were FUGLY. The workmanship of these things were terrible. If you have a set, lay them down on a table with the backsweep down - you'll see what I mean.
..................................."
I managed to get a 1st Gen pair Anlun stamped for my build which are huge but I've also got a white pair which are unstamped and match yours.....I think they are a later 86 pair?
hope this might help you out and others ?
regards Antony

Thanks for that
I'm really looking for some '85 bars, seems these are later, they'll most def do me fine until I find the right ones :)
