Hello everyone. Been looking on RAD for a few months and have finally joined the family. I grew up in middlesbrough and got my first BMX A Pro Star from Askeys cycles in Guisborough, at the same time my older brother got a Kuwahara ET. Every bit of pocket money was spent over the next 2 years, mainly at armstrongs on Princes road buying new bits for the pro star- GT Pro bars, Mirage power disc with sugino chainring, Shimano Dx's, Tuf neck stem and seat clamp, and a second hand pair of araya 7x's to replace the heavy duty CMC rims. Christmas came around again and i was the proud owner of a Curtis Expert f&f, (Older brother got a haro master f&f) This was probably about 1984. More and more money was spent on the Curtis turning it into a lightweight racer with a uni turbo seat, araya 1 3/8 rims, and suntour beartraps. I spent every available spare minute riding these bikes with a large group of friends with many memorable trips up to great ayton quarry. After a few more years the BMX scene died in our area. The Curtis stayed in the garage for a few years and was sold for £25 to a neighbours kid. I remember helping my older brother clean out his garage in the mid 90's
and we skipped the haro master not thinking that these bikes would ever be collectable. I'm now looking to get hold of an old school f&f to build up but can't believe the price s these are going for.
