Okay guys, is there a certain part that ruins it for you when you see it on somebody's build ???
It could be an all out expensive build or a cheap build, but that certain part just niggles at you making you want to shout at your screen and say "why the fcuk did you put THAT on there?? :LolLolLolLol:
For me, foremost is coloured nipples :knuppel2: i.e Mint Chrome Araya's, Red and Chrome Bullseyes and fookin' RED nipples :crazy2: followed by 'race' tyres on a freestyler, braced laybacks and powdercoated cranks of any kind.
-
Oh, and original worn decals ripped off and replaced with re-pops :yahoo_silent:
-
Skyway freestyle platforms, almost bearable on a TA but I've seen many on burners and just don't get it
-
You can find quite a few early pics of haro and Dominguez riding comp3's at skate parks, also the skyway team, so does it depend on the build with your race tyre dislike terry?
I think you might like my next build too, it's going to be sporting some lovely white 401's ;D
-
Oh, and original worn decals ripped off and replaced with re-pops :yahoo_silent:
Didn't you do that to your yellow team master? ??? :-X ;D
-
I may get slated here , but i cant stand it when people put new twin pinch flights on old bikes just looks so wrong to me!!
-
This whole thing makes me cringe.. But that's about it. (http://i1038.photobucket.com/albums/a469/Poochy_06/f65e8f541ed494f9c9c162b1b2fde235.jpg) :daumenhoch:
-
It does my head in when threads, Signatures and Avatars get copied and pasted from the Museum. ;D
Parts wise, I don't really mind too much, if it's not my cup of tea I don't put it on my bike.
I don't like Pooch on a bike though, does that count as a part?
Adam

i think coloured nips are a nice finishing touch, i also have freestyle tyres on what would normally be considered a race bike, reasoning is i like the look of them and we all did freestyle on our race bikes BITD.... :)

;D

That cat's got 3 legs Sam not 2 :LolLolLolLol:
-
I had a pivotal seat that made me cringe for over 2 weeks once.
-
Snake posts.........why?
-
Braced Laybacks intant killer
Snake posts
Painted seatposts
Freestyle Tyres on a race bike
Reissue comp III Tyres
Race cranks on a freestyle bike
Probably loads of other stuff >:(
-
Comp 3s on a freestyle bike
Non use of Pots mod stem bolts on freestyle bikes.
White walls.
-
It's not a part that bugs me it's a set up.
Handle bars pushed forward, far forward. And WHY is it all Burners seem to have this done to them?
IT LOOKS STUPID! :idiot2: :idiot2: :idiot2:
-
nothing wrong with snake posts if you rode one BITD or it is was stock on the bike :daumenhoch:
-
Coloured chains, never liked them bitd and still don't like them now.
-

It's because burners are so epically short. It's the only way a grown man can ride one

With a snake post no doubt too :LolLolLolLol:
-
Race builds with no pads. They need them to complete the look.
-
So we now have 2 threads of "I hate this & I hate that"...?! ???
-
You can find quite a few early pics of haro and Dominguez riding comp3's at skate parks, also the skyway team, so does it depend on the build with your race tyre dislike terry?
Yeah I know Fiola used worn race tyres at one point...
-

Didn't you do that to your yellow team master? ??? :-X ;D
:-X ;D
-
Shark Bite pedals and Elina UL seats.
-
dont like when people build totally stock original parts builds n polish the fook outa stem, seat clamps n the like, it loses the point completely IMO. i do not mind polished stuff on any build thats not being passed off as original. hate big lay backs on mid school race bikes, they seem to spoil the sleekness of them. and i'm always disappointed when i see a build with a loopy pk ripper, skyway or early haro f/f thats been built to look like every other pk ripper, skyway n haro. its been before by loads, loads of times and loads better. Some builds are just too clinical, theres plenty of passion out there but wheres the soul of bmx building gone? ye c*nts! :LolLolLolLol:

GT stickered seat post not on a GT !! :idiot2:

unless its a rider and your left handed

Er...No Mr FC. I totally stripped the Master and re-done it. As you never saw it before the re-do, you wouldn't know just how bad it was cosmetically and how the rust was present. Then I put 'custom' decals on it :daumenhoch:
-

Yes like putting pre 80 Shimano 600 cranks on a 1984 Direct Link september BOTM comp
Why when by that era all race BMX had BMX specific cranks usually cro mo not roadie bike cranks
Bikes around 1980 are ok with them though because bmx only 3 piece wern't available
:LolLolLolLol:
Is there anything wrong in putting on items that were already on the market at the time?? Better than putting half wraps on them I guess, or full wraps that everybody seems to put on their builds. The whole idea of putting those on was to get both bikes looking nearly the same with the same parts. Oh, and being bored sh!tless at looking Redline Flights on absolutely everything :D
-
Front brake on a race build :idiot2:
In the early days a few pros had them...
-
Snake posts and I'm sorry ( I know some riders used them ) rat trap pedals .. Especially with flight cranks :crazy2:

Guess am left handed then, but luckily not left footed :daumenhoch:

Expert sized frames (as used by 10-13 year olds) with massive pro bars, laybacks etc, just not authentic.

What TT length would you class as expert?
-
Sorry but pointless thread :-\
not having a dig, these post are not important but they do get a lot of peeps talking about bmx, n thats the main point of rad me thinks. i dont build now and have no interest in collecting just riding what i've got n these threads have made me think about bikes n thats a good thing surely, even tho some, myself included, may lower the tone
-
'bullet' dust caps.... :10_2_12:
-
Hate to see later parts on earlier frames. Bitd you couldn't have put 83 parts on your 80 frame so why do it now just because the parts are there. Wrong wrong wrong wrong :D
-
GT stickered seat post not on a GT !! :idiot2:
now thats silly!
some seat posts are GT posts...
it would be like saying you dont like GT stamped bars on a ripper... :-\

I mean when there is a 'pro' model available, to then have the 'expert' set up with massive parts isn't right.
Actually I don't HATE owt really, just a slight preference to see things as I remember them :daumenhoch:

Cant say that it is imformative. Ok so i know someone hates skyway frame standers, they may as well tell me what colour underpants they have on.
An "i love this part" thread would be marginally better and yes its great to be chatting about bmx but this thread was lifted from the museum so you can fill your boots with peoples pet peeves on there.
I know i sound like a grumpy barstool and this is no dig at you Orgasmdonor but i just thinking other perfectly good threads were culled to make room for this misery :-X

FFS Terry...! :knuppel2:
It wasn't 'lifted' from the Museum and there are plenty of members on here who don't even use the Museum. I thought it would be an interesting thread with lots of good views and points. Better than looking at Ebay links and chatting about bumming. Oh well ::)
Now, where is that Aeroyal and those Acorn mags?? I need to bang together my Exhibitionist :LolLolLolLol:
Oh, and put on those Redline full wraps :D

That Andy Patterson geezer hasn't got a fecking clue has he, Gt layback on a race bike, those horrible cw things and ratty's on his flight cranks.
He knew how to build a bike that would make a few of us cringe today. :LolLolLolLol:

Well my haro must fook a load of people off :LolLolLolLol:
It has twin pinchers, whitewalls, new skyways & left lever controls back brake (as it should)
At least it doesn't have an Elina (any more)
And my silver fox has a front brake and repop comp 3s
Couldn't give a monkeys whether anyone else likes em or not, they're mine to ride :daumenhoch:
-
If i think about it i have one or two parts i don't like the look of but in order for me to think "why the fcuk did you put THAT on there?? It would have to be something i knew for sure definitely never happened and wasn't right.
If a guy has done his research when putting a bike together then even the 'ugly what the fcuk' parts are alright to me.
This thread and the other one though have got me thinking of ideas for my next build.
Picture it.
CW bars too far forward.
Elina UL painted snake post with a GT sticker on it.
SR stem
Sharkbite pedals
Oakley 3 cobra grips
7X on bullseys with Red nipples and comp3 re-issues
Two brakes with the rear on the wrong side
Redline twin pinch flites powdered with ratty's
coloured chain
bullet caps
And the pièce de ré·sis·tance a mk1 burner frame. :LolLolLolLol:
-
the rear brake thing makes me laugh.
who's to say that you lot running them on the right aint got it wrong :P.
im a lefty by the way and always was even bitd :coolsmiley:

Massive bars and laybacks on an expert bike :(
Massive seats, full size grips, other burly parts on a mini, mini bmx,s are meant to be as light as possible ???
Yellow parts teamed with gold parts :(,like mixing black and blue with yer clothes :( (ok with jeans :daumenhoch:)
Small chainrings on a 20"race bike,39/16=nowhere fast :D

Sometimes an explanation as to why certain parts are on the bike or why something is set up in a certain way is needed :)

On the diplomatic tip.... Each to there own! Most people don't have the cash to spend on era correct parts , or don't see the point ! If you like it, ride it and don't just drool over it collecting dust then use what is good for you.
On an undiplomatic tip.... Cw bars , without a doubt the ugliest bars around, ugly bitd, ugly now ! Just my opinion of course ;)
Right I'm off to the garage to check my twin pinchers & ul are still fitted :LolLolLolLol:

Someone should put together a 'cringer' build for the fun of it with all previously mentioned horrors present!I have a 25.4 snakepost nos i would be happy to donate to get the ball rolling!it's chrome but someone may want to paint it for extra cringe factor!! :daumenhoch:

To all those guys who don't like layback or snake posts, when your 40 something and have the body of a 40+ yr old its quite uncomfortable riding a kids bike with ya darby resting on the handlebars i'll have you know! Not all 40+ yr olds are blessed with the body of a 20yr old so we have to have a bit of backage for some frontage space! Please remember that we are still keeping the faith and making ourselves comfortable about doin it! I'm sure a lot of us on here will or not admit to this aye WOODY!
