Title: Show us your TOOL - thread - tools that work for BMX restoring
Post by: BENDYCAT ELEVENTEEN on November 12, 2012, 02:18 PM
This thread is to show what tools you use on your bike and what works best  ;)
It can be shop bought or home made tool or part that helps you !
You can say where you got it from and a link or how you made it

Show tools that you have and have found work the best on restoring a bmx or bike - some times we use the wrong tool for the right job, but end up fooking the parts up or get stuck

please put up a nice clean picture and what the tool does  ;)

in this thread you can show stuff like : best chain remover - what you use to knock or press BB cups in - pedal spanners - axle spanners -skyway alloy hub puller - any thing else that works for you
Sometimes cheap tools can work and sometimes cheap doesn't always work well

I hope this thread will help anybody that is having trouble with a part that they need to remove

cheers B  ;)

(if this thread works well can a MOD please move it to the sticky section, once enough members have posted - please)

had trouble getting the gungy stuff left by the headtube decal on my Hawk F20 f/f, so it was time for my trusty decal remover  :daumenhoch:

suggested a similar idea a bit back ,  fell upon deaf ears back then :( , maybe you got more clout with the mods B  :daumenhoch: ,and have better luck  tis a good idea  threads keep popping up on how do get this part off, or on  ,  be a good ref for people new to building , plus could include some of the home made tools that work , the wheel jig that did the rounds is a great example  :daumenhoch:

How does it work ?

lace up the wheel with just a couple of turns on the nipples, once laced stick the tool in from the top of the nipples and tighten till it bottoms out. go round the whole wheel doing this. this ensures all the nipples have the same amount of turns. then it,s just a case of tensioning the wheel. i,ve used this loads and the wheel needs very little truing afterwards.

Why would you have to have any clout with the moderators for people to reply to a thread?  Yours fell on deaf ears, it happens.

Cheeky fookwits.  ;D

Best tool in the business, does everything but is a bit old and smelly.

Here's another tool that I used to put a chain on my sons bike once, it didn't work very well though, I found I had to give it a whack to make it work properly.

Yes i understand that,   perhaps the post was badly worded on my part , i was merely suggesting that the idea for the thread being made a sticky maybe given more consideration by the admin team due to Bendy being a  longer standing member of the forum .It was not my intention to suggest , as it would seem this has been interpreted, that some people have more influence with the admin team than others.
