Title: Kuwie Laserlite
Post by: Retrodan72 on November 15, 2012, 10:56 AM
I'm trying to decide what to do with my '83 Laserlite f/f that I bought back in August.  :-\

So far, all i've done to it is take it out of the box it was delivered in and put it in the shed with my other bikes. ::)
The main tubes are ok, but there is a fair amount of pitting and dulling and some blistering of the chrome, also the original decals are a bit fooked and the head tube decal is missing. :'(

The options for me are....

1) Spend about a year, doing it gradually inc a full rechrome so it doesn't skint me too much in one go?
2) Powder coat it for a fraction of the rechrome cost and get it built in a few months?
or
3) Keep it as a survivor and build it up with survivor parts?

What would you lot do??

Get some pic's up.

If its show I would take my time in rebuilding it and get it rechromed.

If you are going to ride it then keep it survivor.

Either way I would'nt paint it, then again you could do a Laserlite 3000 replica  ???

I've got  a couple of builds on the go, I have been collecting parts for years including my bro's laserlite that was rechromed.

survivors are great but the thing you have to ask yourself is are you wanting it as a show pony?? if yes an average survivor frameset isnt alot of good.secondly are you going to ride it??if not then whats the point in building a surivor in just rider shape as it will just sit there doing nothing after spending a tidy sum on it.i think this is the thing when you source a frameset, you need to know what you are going to do with it before you get it otherwise you end up torn on what to do with it for the best :crazy2:
