I've just had delivered
1 x Oddy M2 Lever
1 x Snafu Gyro
2 x Tabs
2 x Liner Brake cables
2 x New Kool Stop Pads
1 x Proper Magnalite Brake
I'm running two cables down from the gyro tabs to my London Mod for the rear brake
Question is what do I need to connect the two cables to my brake ???
Are these em

has the liner cables got a little oblong/round ball type barrell on them aswell as the normal type barrell?
as the ball/oblong ones will slide into the snafu gyro's cable hole where a normal sized barrell wont
the knarps look the right size but i cant be sure, i know oddy evo 2 brakes use a larger knarp than most but im not sure on the proper brake
-
Yep me Ball's fit nice and sung in the Snafu :coolsmiley:
Cheers Kev :4_17_5:
I thought I needed some sort of "cable stop" for the brake's :daumenhoch:
-
When I went from a Oddy caliper to a Proper caliper the straddle cable wouldn't fit in the Proper caliper the knarps were too big :)
-
should have got yourself the Oddy brake as it comes with all the bits you need, and them proper brakes have looooooads of flex in them, mine even cracked :(
-
Those new oddy brakes look well nice and only about £15
-
👆 +1 but think I paid £30ish for mine and works a lot better then my old proper brake👍

Get one of these Pete :daumenhoch:

Not sure about those Springfield brakes. They have one spring between the arms, with no adjustment. You cant tighten the tension if you need to, and you cant centralise the brake. Ive not used one so i dont really know what they are like, but I would say the things they have removed for simplicity are things you need
-
I have sent the proper brake back to w4nkstanley's as there was two bits missing :tickedoff:
I've been looking at the oddy evo2 brakes and I'm going to get one of them :daumenhoch:
-
For what it's worth, I agree with Alex on the Springfield brake. You've made a good choice with the Evo 2 :daumenhoch:
-
Got both and the evo is more adjustable but the Springfield is a 3rd of the price and works fine, you old people and there brakes
-
"Got both"
"old people and there brakes"
Case closed Pete! ;)
(Oh, and its THEIR brakes :police:)
-
Got to say. That budget oddy brake does look w4nk! :idiot2:
I certainly wouldn't bother using one of those! But the evo 2 is the business. I have had several and they work great. Just be aware you may need to shorten the securing bolts as they are quite long. It depends how tall your u brake mounts are. :daumenhoch:

At the end of the day I'm a stout fellow :D so will need all the stopping power I can get :daumenhoch:
