Hi guys...
Well for the 3 years that I have been a member of this site this is the bike I've I always wanted to do.
As most of you know, it's the Skyway Streetbeat that is my all time favourite old school BMX.
Since watching Craig and Carlo on Bmx Beat in 86... It's been my 'most wanted'.... :coolsmiley:
The ad that inspired the build......

Thanks to everyone, not least SBD, Del, Pickle and all the others, you know who you are. :daumenhoch:
Ok here we go...........I hope you enjoy. ;)

-
Ace colour that pal :daumenhoch:
Summat different that
-
Awesome Steve :4_17_5: give me a ring if you ever want to part with it :LolLolLolLol:
-
Well I love it :daumenhoch: 2 tone Streetbeats look the nuts.
-
Wow, awesome beat... Very clean build, love it :4_17_5:
-
:4_17_5: Sweet :4_17_5: That is one lovely Beat indeed. Great Job Steve :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
-
Not a fan of beats but that looks great :daumenhoch:
-
Simply stunning!!! Well done :) :smitten:
-
Nice work Steve! Loving that, and the attention to detail shows :daumenhoch:
-
HolyFuckingShit Steve  Thats amazing!!
Straight out of the shop...in fact probably better! :smitten:
Awesome mate. :daumenhoch:
-
love it love it love it :) steve that looks amazing mate,i really think the two colours work so
good together and a cracking build :daumenhoch:
-
H O T - S H I T that Steve !! :daumenhoch:
-
That is stunning. :4_17_5:
Are the brake pads on back to front? Not fussed on the bright blue cable ties - you can get transparent ones which wouldn't stand out so much. The loop on the front brake cable can be hidden on the inside of the fork leg for a cleaner look too.
-
Nice kitchen too!!! :D
-
Don't think you'll find any negative comments on this thread. :daumenhoch:
Absolutely 1st class all the way Steve, that colour combo is lovely. Top job mate. :smitten: :daumenhoch:
Adam
-
Thanks for the comments guys....Dan only got this to me today so have only lightly built it up tonight.
My 9 year old daughter has helped build it so big thanks to Holly... :-*
The colour doesn't look as good in the photos and looks much brighter in the flesh. :smitten:
Yes I agree with the cable ties as they were the only ones about...and yes the front blocks are on back to front....blame holly for that one!!!
Kitchen is nearly finished also thanks for noticing Rich.........I built that too. :daumenhoch:
Steve
-
Great build :daumenhoch:
-
cracking build 8).
i used to be partial to the odd streetbeat myself a few years back.
if the front forks are the same size tube as the mk1 beats the smaller dia compe cable clips are a perfect fit for ya potts mod cable and are deffo better than cable ties :daumenhoch:
-
More pics.....

-

I remember the advert well Steve :daumenhoch: :coolsmiley:
Amazing work from all involved ,,Parts decals and paint made possible by some of RAD's finest
Steve ,,,,,your life is complete mate :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:
-
A nice finishing touch would be to bore out the holes on the brakes and clamp with a countersink, but its a brave man who attempts that on that lovely powder!.We did the clamp on my mates and it was painstaking!! :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks Neil.....
As Christian says, some of Rads finest members have done their utmost to ensure this build was a success.
Many thanks to them all.
BUT.......is my life complete Christian?
The answer to that lies with this : ;)
-
Damo, I contemplated doing that with the countersink but as you say, it could go badly wrong.....I may ask Dan to give it a try on my next build.
-
Steve, that is different class mate. :smitten:
I must resist from building freestylers though. :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks again dudes. :daumenhoch:
No just one set of decals pal, why??
Steve.

-
Bang tidy
-
simply stunning Steve!!! :4_17_5: you've done a flippin top job with that mate!
rear brake needs mounting underneath though ;) ;D
-
Awesome job :daumenhoch:
-
Cheers Rob, yes I know but Dan has done such a good job with the two tone calipers I didn't want to hide it underneath!!!
It does need a couple of tweaks but I have to say, it is undoubtably my best build to date.
:)
-
It's awesome Steve! Dan is THE man!! the grey looks just the ticket........we picked the right one mate :daumenhoch:
:4_17_5:
-
Steve that really raises the Street Beat bar buddy...looks absolutely awesome :daumenhoch: Got a pic of your Beats lined up?
-
Great job Steve :4_17_5: Looks ace :daumenhoch:
-
Love that, think it looks friggin awsome :4_17_5: One of the nicest looking Beats IMO :daumenhoch:
-
:daumenhoch:
No I haven't got a pic of all the beats as I've had to put them away in the loft as my 'cave' was being used as a kitchen while I fitted the new one.
The kitchen is almost finished now so will be returning the bike room to normal after Xmas.
BUT.......will I have another finished by then??? The answer is yes.
Watch this space for this ones twin brother. :coolsmiley:
-
That's one perfect machine! congrats on the good work
-
Steve i'm not normally a fan of factory builds but this is off the scale mate.
11 out of 10 mate. BotM for me that :coolsmiley:
-
Thanks Spen......makes it all worth while with the comments I have had so thank you.
A couple more pics......as you can see the camera and the light flushes out the colour of the blue so here's some showing a bit of the colour better and some more of Dans workmanship.

baby blue & grey = sexy ;)
-
don't like it steve :yahoo_silent:
puts my 'beat to shame :'(
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/l79/gary7071/DSCI0076.jpg)
only joking mate ;D
stunning build :4_17_5: think its the beast colour combo skywy did
can't wait to see your next 'beat build 8)
-
That is so nice :smitten: I would have to say that is the best Street Beat build I have seen in years :smitten:
:daumenhoch:
-
Pure Porn.
-
Now this is what I came here for. I haven't seen a decent built on vintage in ages.
That's my favorite StreetBeat color combo.
I hope you don't mind a little criticism from a newb, but I'm a stickler for the little things.
One of my favorite tricks bitd day was surfers/scurfers and you really could not do them with the cables routed over the crossbars like that. Loop them in front and it will look a lot more like a rider's bike.
I would also shorten that rear cable housing a bit. The loop it makes coming out fo the spinmaster looks like it's putting a lot of unnecessary resistance on the cable. I also agree with a previous comment about looping the front cable inside the fork leg for a cleaner look.
Yeah I know I'm an :Aresehole:
:)
The rest of the bike is perfect!
-
nice :daumenhoch:
-
That colour scheme is just WOW
Awesome build seve
-
I invited negative as well as positive comments so glad to hear a bit of criticism pal. :daumenhoch:
The dark blue cables are being removed as I have some 80's powder blue ones on there way as I think the colour will suit it better.
Therefore when I refit them I will bear these points in mind. The only thing ill say is that when the rear cable pops out of the spinmaster it is pointing down and so it does need to have a curve in it to make the 90 degree turn to the horizontal.
Glad you like it though. :daumenhoch:
Cheers steve.
-
That colour scheme is just WOW

By the way the kitchen does look good, where's the plinths Steve :D
-
Ha!!! Plinths were put on yesterday, just need to put the up stands on and the skirting boards and that's it!!
It's a lot easier building bikes.. :-\
-
really nice that
-
Ok bit of an update......
Changed a couple of bits on some recommendations.
Re-located rear caliper underneath frame.
Re-routed front brake cable inside fork leg.
Replaced blue brake cables for some NOS 80's powder blue (which is kind of a baby blue and grey mix)
Replaced blue tie wraps for silver grey.
Put front brake blocks on the right way round. ::)
She's now officially finished. :daumenhoch:

Wow, thanks for the comments guys.
Without you Dan, this build would be non-existent, so many thanks for your help and expertise with getting the colours spot on.
There's too many people to thank with this build. A few parts on here were near impossible to locate but a few radsters helped me get my hands on these rare bits so many many thanks.
I even think Mrs Steve is impressed with this build too....she pretends its 'just a bike' but secretly I know she likes this one. ;)
Thanks again for the comments. :daumenhoch:
