LOL Dave ... its going on my WAL so makes no odds .... thought they might have been Backyard Yardstix but the crisscross pattern is too wide.

yeah those Stogies don't half weigh a ton!

I managed to get that pair in the picture off the guy selling them ... £6 postage! WTF ... they must weigh as much as a brick.
:bondage:
-
yeah....i had a full set on my old Ground master and it trippled the bikes weight!
-
Yes Ed, mine are Backyard Yardstix. The Stogies came both tapered and straight, probably tapered to fit on forks as they're pretty chunky.
-
Those pegs arent Primo Stogies. Stogies only came out in 96 or 97 so its highly unlikely they could appear on the cover of a mag in 93. That pic is very small so hard to say for sure, but I suspect the pegs on that bike are in fact Standard grenades. They seem to have the same proportions as grenades, as well as the same number of grooves etc.

On that mag they look like grenades up front, can't see whats on the rear (they could be the Standard ribbed pegs - these don't have crossed grooving tho)
I had a set of Yardstix (bought from Backyard) in '93 (that are almost identical to the pegs in Ed's first pic), and I remember my mate bought a pair of Primos about 6 months later (that weren't Tube Stakes) that were almost identical bar the rings didn't go all the way to the end of the peg - they had a blank area the same as Ed's first piccy at the peg end. I remember 'cos I'm a tighter than a ducks arse Yorkshireman, and his pegs cost him £2 less :D

Definitely not Grenades or Stogies. They also look too short to be yard sticks. Why don't you just mail the pic to Ron and ask him?
-
'CAUSE WE IS HAVING SO MUCH FUN JON!
anyway - think Ron only made the Damage pegs ... its not them ...

Haha Ed. I'm too impatient with stuff like this. I just want to know right away.
Damage pegs are awesome. Wish I had started my WAL build 6 months before I did. Ron still had stock of all this stuff then and was letting it go for nothing. Unsurprisingly it's all been snapped up and stashed away.

I wish you had too! ... then my WAL obsession would have peaked earlier and I could have scooped some as well :daumenhoch:
-
... I guess I could just send Howard Radcliffe a message and ask him if he remembers
-
pretty sure they are yardstix ed,will see if i can find a pic in an old ride mag

Well - Yardstix weren't always 5" of ribbed pleasure. One's I had weren't as I'd have cut 'em down. The ones you're thinking of John were around in '95 and were 5". When Backyard started making them they were shorter (and prior to that, which may be the pegs on the WAL - when Phil Evans made them).
Here's the 5"ers (ta Kev :) )

Here's the ORIGINAL Backyard one's (came out in early '93):

Them one's in Ed's peg-piccy (TM) aren't Yardstix, but I think they're the Primo copies I remember from around '94. Turn 'em into Yardstix though by simply trimming off the blank ends on 'em. Pegs a peg really - so long as it's machined :)
-
no probs :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
yep they did 4in yardstix before the 5in peg craze started
