Now as some of you know i am fortunate enough to have what is belived to be the only known surviving ACE racing frame and forks :) now the idea was to build it as a Cav Strutt replica but i have realised i have a slight problem..... in the picture i have of Cav riding an ACE he is not using the forks that were later sold with the frames, trouble is i dont know what he is using !! so this is where i want some help, can anyone identify the forks on Cav's bike ?
even better, does anyone have any contact details for Cav?

What year was it from ??? that will narrow it down a bit, my 1st guess would be GT, but the bend looks to rounded, so maybe Robinson :-\

Look a bit Hutch
But the bottom on the fork legs looks flat cut
Its just the location of the plate at the bottom of the legs looks in the same position
Or Patty

i think they were too late tbh as i dont remember them being around in 81 but closer in looks mate :daumenhoch:

Richard Barrington had the frames built in the far East, I remember them being wall to wall in the shop when they arrived. I would think that someone like Akisu would have been the builder, so it would make sense that they were Akisu forks. Possibly slightly different, depending on the spec at the time.

Cant help on the forks but if you are stuck for the bars and dont mind copies the rapid transit bars may do the trick

are you sure about where they were built tone ? only reason i say that is that they are brazzed not welded ?
-
Im not sure Andy, but Richard would have got them built by someone like that. The exchange rate to the US back then was really bad, so Im sure it wasnt a US firm, very likely a far east set up.

Pretty sure they were built in the UK, looking at those forks again they could be early Tange ones, can't think of the model something like TX Super....

Sorry not mine, I lifted the pic from Volcano (Mick Ryan) over on Ozbmx!
Cav's dropout extends beyond the forkleg so the TX Super would be one candidate and TRX another but the legs look round so maybe not those and I can't remember what the Cook Bros forks look like!
-
cook bros forks have the drop out up the leg like tx 1200 or tx 500 :daumenhoch:

I'm friends with Pete on fb if you want me to ask him anything?
