Some of you might have seen the knackered DP with the snapped downtube that was knocking about at MK11 and in the DP tent @ MK12 ... well it ended up with me :)
This is how it was when it first surfaced

...and after a good strip & clean ....

The downtube was cracked through and the metal was a rotten mess... the top tubes were like bananas and the rear drops were cakkaaaaa... :'(
...so I managed to talk The Grand MRD Wizard Mr 'Animal' Steve into having a crack at fixing it ... I didn't hold out much hope as it was FOOKED but if Phil or Steve couldn't do it then it would have to stay 'dead' :(
I was meeting up with Steve at the RAD Meet at Terminal 1 on Saturday ... and he brought it with him ... 8)

I was grinning like a loon Gaz ... so SO chuffed ... Steve was teasing me a bit so I thought I would leave it then he just wandered up with it  I was amazed at what he had done ... the bit that really stuck in my mind is when Steve gave me a stern face and told me not to be trying any crazy tricks on it ... like endos ;D
...and thanks for your part Gaz... as Spen will tell you ... a very Small Part is better than no part at all :daumenhoch: ;)
Its off to Dan after Christmas for a coat of Pink then one day it might look like this ...

 did you have it made into a cruiser ED? that pic with the tree frame looks well long or that's a hobbit tree
top resto work there :4_17_5: :daumenhoch:
-
Is that one of those funny unbranded seats with 'free style' on the side in the pic Ed? :-\
-
Steve told me he'd sorted the top tubes out a few weeks ago and swore me to secrecy last week as he wanted to bring it to T1 in person rather than post it......
There would definitely be a lot more landfill frames if it weren't for Steve and Phil on here. Top bombing our kid - let's just hope fat Ed doesn't start doing tricks on it eh?

Amazing skills :daumenhoch:

Top skills there and glad you shared it Ed. I would be well chuffed with the outcome of that frame :daumenhoch: Another one saved from the Heinz factory ;)
As said already, Steve and Phil are a huge asset to the Rad forum and their skills are next to none :4_17_5:
-
That's a good fix. Not many people would attempt anything with a frame that goosed. The endo comment might not be as daft as it sounds Ed, I broke a GT downtube/headtube joint once doing a kerb endo. It didn't get mended half as well as your DP though, my dad's mate welded a gusset on that was the size of a dvd case :-[

great work steve :daumenhoch:
