To be fair she'll probably be breast feeding so I'm sure she won't miss me for just one day  >:D

I can do Huggies but only until the end of March, which is when they close down in Europe.
Mrs S (prospective) will be out of work then. As she's the shuggie that makes the Huggie.

Chester was great last year. The hardest part was trying to identify the hotel, good job it was next door to the bar we were in! :idiot2:

I am not sure if Dan has touched base with them yet. I will give him a call later and see if he wants to speak to them again. I will touch base with the bar of hanging bicycles

Is there any of the riders from the previous 2 Chester rides that have any preferences for any of the boozers that we've visited previously? ???

As the amount of riders is increasing each year, me & Brett have to rethink on which juicer has the space to cater for us all. :-\

@Brett, I've drawn a map at work and will post up tonight, when I'm in on nights. I've included the little beer garden pub, as well as the one next door. I've sent us dorm the river this year to the boathouse, it's got a big car park with tables, has had a recent refurb, will be great for pics by the river, and more importantly, will have clunge there. :daumenhoch:

Ok, so I've done a map, not brilliant, but I'm not a designer. It's simple to follow, the red circles are where we need to be, times not stated, as these things never stick to their times. ::)

The yellow dotted lined arrows are which direction we are heading, obviously. ::)

And the blue numbers are the order the places are in. ::)

This is subject to change, as Brett being lead organiser may want a different plan for the day. :coolsmiley:

I'm purely adding my knowledge as a local.

Key:

1) Station
2) Lock Keeper - where we had a buffet last year.
3) The Boathouse - down by the river
4) Off The Wall - in town, or The Ship, decent boozer over the bridge??
5) Bar Lounge, ideal if quiet.
6) Ye Olde Custom House - hanging beer garden of BMX
7) Slug & Lettuce - where the doormen loved us last year.
8) Coach House - by the town hall where we had the group shot last year.
9) The Vic & Commercial - cool courtyard, bikes were away by this time last year.

I've added a bit for Carlos, in case he gets lost.....again!! :LolLolLolLol:

Booked it yesterday , only 70 ish quid and a quality breakfast the next day , oh and they let you take your bikes in the room .

Sam, I used to bmx in the small wood off Broad Lane, Moss bank, at the top of Moss Bank Road (The short but steep billinge end, not the longer st helens end). We had a bmx track in the woods, and used to race there. Loads of us used to hang out there. I was one of the younger ones, about 7 years old - I would have been there between 1984-86. Most of the other lads were in their early teens. Did you used to go there or do you know it?

I knew a lad who went to Chapel End school. Stuart Plant I think his name was. I'm 35 now. I think he was a year or two older.  My uncle lived in Carr Mill Crescent for years - just round the corner from the school. St Helens to Billinge then Crank, Rainford & back to St Helens is one of my sunny day summer bike routes. I did 24 miles last year on my MT Racing Fox. I only intended to have a look at the car boot sale in Billinge, but got carried away! I was born in Billinge hospital too.   Billinge is in St Helens, but the hospital was Orrel way wasn't it? So the hospital prob is within the wigan area

Richie Clean may have a bed spare :daumenhoch:

Sorry, but the current plan is that our RADster-bound-for-down-under, Wini, will be occupying it.  ;)

I will speak to Mark this evening and double check that he can still make it. If he can't then there will be a bed in a twin room at Blossom's Hotel, with Breakfast included, for £35.  :daumenhoch:

Breaking news.......

Sadly, our future BMX Convict down under can not join us due to other commitments he cannot avoid.  :'(

So, this means I have a bed spare in a twin room in Blossoms Hotel in the centre of Chester; bed and breakfast will cost £35 should anyone wish to share with me? The hotel allows bikes in the bedrooms, too.  ;)

So if anyone out there wants a cheapish night in a very nice hotel, please let me know via PM?  :daumenhoch:

Thanks,

Clean.

I am planning to be away from the station at 13:30 sharp. This ride will include a couple of the City's famous bars as per Dans route

My Mobile is 07941 079134 if any one needs to get hold of the pack if they are running late. I will be at the station from about 12:30. I will not be missed on my Pink DP GL plus. The weather is looking cold by dry which is good enough for me.

I do live down south now but still have my northern blood. In the winter we had a candle to sit around. When it got really cold we lit it  :LolLolLolLol:

I have just prepped my bike and finished chatting with a load of people and can Confirm this ride is very much on.  :4_17_5:

See you Saturday Gents and don't forget your Gloves :daumenhoch:

Unfortunatley it is honking down here :-[

I know I’ll be called a f@nny and southern softy etc, etc….but wouldn’t it be better to reschedule? A rideout should be enjoyable and not a battle of attrition to spite the weather. Plus rock salt isn’t good for old school metal.

SIT REP: I've just been out on my 26" Cube MTB, and it's not good. I went to Shotton to see of the Barbers were open which meant doing the route I would be tomorrow. I'm no fanny, but it's just too risky. :'( :idiot2:

But, I will still be at Chester Station @ 1pm tomorrow, as planned, albeit without a bike. :'(

So if people are up for it, I'll meet you at the bar at the Station and take you on a proper Old School pub crawl around the City.

It will be a huge piss up, one pint on one pub then move on.

Post in thread if you're up for it?

Lets face it, most of you have got a pass from the enemy so you'll only be doing what you'd planned anyway, just without bikes. :daumenhoch: :Great_Britain:

Our own Billy Stupple features, as do Neil Ruffell and Stuart 'Pepi' Winder. Both quaility. R.I.P. Have a great day tomorrow those who are still going. See you at one of the future RAD rides.

I think it's going to be a morning decision for me too,
Driving down and not drinking and having to leave at tea time anyway means I won't be boozing and no bikes means no fun  ::)

P.s. the bread knife thinks its a stupid thing to ride in the snow, but she wears dangerous  5" heels so why should I listen to her.

Not let up all day where I live; we now have around eight inches on the ground, drifting upto two feet in places. All major routes towards Chester - for me, at least - are officially closed by snow!

I ain't going anywhere this weekend, except the local village pub, some ten yards away:

http://www.thebutchersarmshepworth.co.uk/ (http://www.thebutchersarmshepworth.co.uk/)

Dan / Carl, am assuming you still want the room?  ???

Gutted that the first, and one of the best, ride's of the 2013 RAD Calendar is fooked for me.  :'(

For the record, I will gladly sign up to another date..............   :daumenhoch:

................... If ain't Diving, of course!  :LolLolLolLol:

The car on the left is my mates E Class Coupe, me and him moved the snow from the front of our car at 4pm yesterday so he can leave his car here. His little boys not been well so may need to rush him to hospital and the lane behind my house to his is inaccessible.

As you can see, he won't be rushing anywhere. :wtf:

Those without bikes will be warm in the pubs, don't take your bikes you'll be stuck outside watching them in the cold...no fun! There will plenty other sunny rides to come this year.
