This was Peregrine's Flag Ship Model the Peregrine B1 XT,
This is BMX's most Rarest Freestyler, and there's lots of them depending on what your into brand name, style etc. ( Like it or NOT ) Never seen till now I was on a fie year hunt an almost gave up,
I have had it all form Peregrine Expert, to Expert Pro's Peregrine CLP, and a Peregrine B1 I recently sold to a member here.
But fast forward back to a Year ago I picked the frame up from a good friend of mines in Argentina,
I been collecting Peregrine parts for about 4 year and 1/2" so I had had all the parts to build this baby up.
When my friend Mefisto contacted me he told me his friend had a Peregrine B1 XT I told him no way he said yhea its here in Argentina Sure nuff it was a Peregrine B1 XT at last my Holy Grail...
This Frame/Fork originally were in JAPAN
from a kid who his dad was transferred to, Buenos Aires - Argentina.
After some years Family goes back to Japan leaving behind the F/F in a warehouse
a friend found the F/F there abandoned and ask the security guy if he can pay some for it
the guy said yes...(of course, this is Argentina)
Know some of you may agree and some of you may disagree but I will built her Excalty as the Catalog Picture below
The most Expensive bike in 1988
Hope you guys Enjoy...
Thanks ~ smile

Wow that looks goooood!
Looking forward to seeing this.
-
Very nice indeed, but you can't call it 'rarest' after showing us a scan of the ad showing it for sale to the general public
E.g. Kappy's prototype DP is a one-off, I'm sure the chaps on here could reel off a list of other one-off freestylers
-
ive no idea how rare this bike is compared to other freestyler . what i do know is 4 and a half years collecting parts is pure dedication :daumenhoch: looking forward to seeing her built up :4_17_5:
Griff dont think Kappy has that prototype any more. but when you say the words "rare" in Kappys terms anything he keeps longer than 2 monthes is RARE :LolLolLolLol:

Exactly and only ONE Ever seen, Show be another one, MATE
Same as the Powerlite Freestyler for Sale to the public and till today Have not seen one...in a UK Magazine Ad
And as far as calling something RARE VDC Freestylers are called RARE and I seen about 8 of those...
Absolutely as RARE as it Gets

Wasn't knocking the bike at all, but just because you haven't seen one doesn't mean there aren't a few tucked away somewhere in private
If someone's going to take the trouble to advertise something for sale in a magazine it's not the biggest leap of faith to assume that they bothered to make more than one. Maybe Mr peregrine could confirm it for you?
The thing about kappy's prototype DP was that by its very nature it was a total one-off and came with some concrete provenance

Understood, and am not saying your knocking me,
But the advertisement was simple words from a BMX company selling bikes like a mom and pop shop advertising in a Magazine so no money spent, as far as big money
Like Peregrine did for Advertising the Peregrine Expert the Expert Pro and The Peregrine CLP.
But it was featured in there Catalog
Just like the Powerlite Freestyler ( Diffidently a RARE Bird in my book and in others )
I spoke with the owner of Peregrine Mr. Tadia Nida he is about 74 years old now, but that was way before I found the Peregrine B1 XT I doubt he would remember how many where made, but it would be a nice try to call him back and ask him.

gonna be lovely !

Its kool I understand
I have my Hater Blockers on :LolLolLolLol:
Thanks for the comment
DP are nice and I love lots of UK freestylers espically the Curtis,
But DP is not Big here in the States with all due respect,
I think we would have to agree to this agree as Peregrine is more widely known
As Especially since it was made by the Anlun Factory
The Anlun Factory sent Tadia Nida to New Jersey to make negotiating easier between the US and Taiwan.
The made bikes for Haro,Redline, Air Uni, and General...
In the mist of all this Tadia Nida Trademarked the name Peregrine, I guess this how the Peregrine parts came easily on the General and Haro High End bikes like the Team Master and the General Hustler Pro's.
-
Yep looks the nuts and will be a very nice build..... :daumenhoch:
But...'Rarest Freestyler Ever' is a very bold statement to make. ???

Sorry guys I spelled his name wrong
Here are some pictures he sent me this him back in the 80's when Anlun sent him to the States
Tadia Nieda ( Short guy on the far right of this 1st Picture )
And the second picture is with Him and the orignal Owner of Kuwahara then Howie on the far Right who then bought Kuwahara then sold it.

Clearly you are missing the point I'm trying to make
Regardless of how desirable/expensive etc something is, it can't be rarer than anything else of which only one exists
Except of course for the bike that I was riding in my dream last night, not only did it allow me to clear the coping by 10 feet it also increased the girth of my penis by 50% and made me a more powerful, yet sensitive lover
-

Great Sounds like the Expert went ride up your Pie Hole That making the tube go so far in it increased the size of your penis, OUCH
Defiantly Hope you where dreaming
And Clearly you missed my Point something that is One of, is RARE till another one merges.
My comments where all made in fun its a site I have grown to love and have made many friends here ( No offense to now one here ).
If you wish to take it further am GAME

Kappy can testify to this as well as he was on the receiving end. :daumenhoch:
Nice build, maybe the title got a little lost in translation. :)
-
Very nice indeed, but you can't call it 'rarest'
Only 17 ever made
and Peregrine Branded (Anlen Made)
The bike every kid dream about, because parents cant afford.
This is the 1st i ever saw in 25 Years...
so..enough for me to call it: Rare - Most Wanted - Hard To Find
come on ppl... no haters pls
-
That's what I read any ideas how many how many experts were made and craig le paiges must have been higher than the xt figure
-
No don't know who many experts or CLP where made but only a few of those are around, as for the CLP
It was only sold as a frame and fork set,
Peregrine only made bikes in Old School Bike in 1988
Then the CLP only in 1992

No-one's hating
No-one's saying it's not rare, nice, hard to find or desirable - just not 'the rarest' as stated in the (original) thread title
Thanks for signing up to Rad to come and clear it up though & welcome to the site :daumenhoch:

I could imagine this thread going tits up as soon as i saw the title ! ::)
I think our deemans vdc freestyler prototype that all the vdc boys had never seen before is more rare and definitely not as uniform as your frame (he has been in touch with voris about the exact specimen).
We have different age groups on here . ex pro riders. a huge wealth of knowledge. we have different nationalities on here very regularly and uk people who have travelled extensively and relocated to different corners of the globe. on top of that we shop internationally and are aware of things outside our uk bubble(we have to be as it is only so big)!
you get me BRO ? :coolsmiley: :daumenhoch:

Am on the same page as you are unforgettably no alot of people are the BIG names LIKE VDC are know every where
But not DP ( and dont get me wrong I lobe DP Freestylers ) but its not consider a rarity to most Americans )
We also have different nationalities as well I think that's every where....
And I have bought lots of stuff for UK Members and Have shipped to the UK for them..
Unfortunately some UK members don't feel the same about the Americans there's properly only a Hand Full...
I been on almost very forum and have bought sold and traded with great Members every where, and any one that's really into the hobby am sure has...
YOU GET ME 8)

Ya'll thats cause of George Bush Dad, him and his son have ties with the Bin Laden Group which is Bin Ladens father's oil company...
Then the US trained this SOB for 10 years to kick the Russians out of Afghanistan
Then he turns his back on us... And there's more but let's keep it BMX

Cool as fook that peregrine

sweet bike :4_17_5:
i dont see a one off as a rare frame, cos its something someone decided to knock up in there lunch hr and theres always going to be just one, so its a ONE OFF there is no other....... but looking for a bike or frame that was sold to the public and there aint any anywere on the planet than thats rare in my book :coolsmiley:
my 1990 dyno pro compe frame was advertised and sold to the public but how many have actually shown up? NONE, (all ive seen is pics of dave volker riding it)not even on the museum or any were else, forget over here cos you dont make friends having dynos (said the Sheppard) :2funny: :2funny: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Very nice indeed, but you can't call it 'rarest' after showing us a scan of the ad showing it for sale to the general public
E.g. Kappy's prototype DP is a one-off, I'm sure the chaps on here could reel off a list of other one-off freestylers
Twonk..!
-
Well said Mr Costa. A one off is a one off and of course will be rare.
But a complete bike that is the only one known in existence is rare. But to say it is the RAREST is a big statement.
Judging by the price i can see why it is a rare bike. Probably also rare as im sure not many people would have chosen it over a more well known/cooler brand name.
Good to see something different. :daumenhoch:

Feck me, I thought this was a site about BMX history. Lost within the usual bickering and white noise in this thread is a decent bit of historical information. Shame that went through without much notice. Seriously, I used to wonder why this site was such a closed shop, now I know. Get over it and enjoy the dudes cool bike.

Its the RAREST to me they probably never be a RAREST Ever its a matter of opinion
Peregrine was really only known for the parts being on High End Models such as the Team Master, General Osborn Pro's and some of the red lines coming with Peregrine Masters from Factory, And Also on the Kuwahras top freestyler.
They where never known for there bikes especially since they where only made in 1988 after that came the CLP in 92 and a race frame in 96

Here is Mike Loveridge who rode for Peregrine on the Kuwahara loaded with Peregrine Parts it was a Peregrine ad...
And also a RARE Advertised but never seem Peregrine Bashguard,

That was kind of my point ;)
It is indeed a rare bike. There are lots of rare bikes about as loads have been lost which makes them rare, but yours is just a rare bike as i doubt many were sold. Which makes it a bit of an oddity. But still rare non the less. :daumenhoch:
;D
Feck me, I thought this was a site about BMX history. Lost within the usual bickering and white noise in this thread is a decent bit of historical information. Shame that went through without much notice. Seriously, I used to wonder why this site was such a closed shop, now I know. Get over it and enjoy the dudes cool bike.
Amen to that. :4_17_5:

Yep - Dom said it :daumenhoch:
That Peregrine bashy is a thing to own no doubt... never seen another pic other than that

I have a fair bit of history on Taka Nieda and his trading company TEEL in New Jersey. They were an agency that brought US Brands and Asian factories together. TEEL Owned Peregrine and suprise suprise, lost of Peregrine parts began appearing on Haro Sports and masters from 85 onwards. There were some very dodgy dealings in that period and a RICO Court case.
;D

think costa has put it in a nut shell. a prototype is exactly what it says on the tin ..............a PROTOTYPE . but Rare is something that is sold as a finnished product. and if only 1 , 2,3 still exist today that makes it rare .owning a Prototype of anything is obviously very special in its own right. but the title of this thread is..................................... "what is the RAREST FREESTYLER." what about a thread " who owns a piece of BMX PROTOTYPE HISTORY :coolsmiley:

seems there is the odd person idly chucking insults about and the person trying to clarify things is as opinionated as the people he is obsessing about. people ! who'd have em ?

All I did was suggest that there are probably other equally rare examples out there bobbbbs, at no stage did I insult anyone
Don't want to take anything away from the Peregrine, it's a fine bike to have in any collection and rare as fook - just making a simple point that has been made already in other threads on the subject of rarity

i did nt mean you bro ! i know you are anything but aforementioned label ! :daumenhoch:

Wl I'll chip in with this..... :-X
Thats a cool looking bike right there :4_17_5: :daumenhoch:

Never knew that but from my understanding from Talking to Howie which was his Best Friend
Taka Nieda worked for Anlun and HKK Chain it was said he opened Teel Inc with help from Anlun
Then he Trade marked the name Peregrine, Only and Anlun and other companies made the parts for him.
As far as the Haro thing goes that's good info I never knew about that but Peregrine ran all the way intill the end of 2001 with there site Peregrine USA going off line in 2000.
So do you know if the law suit went thru all the way if Peregrine had to pay, if they did probably didn't hurt Peregrine as they ( correct me if am wrong ) stopped putting peregrine parts after the 88 Team Master.
