hey guys,
i have a set of early 90's chrome gt performer bars and i spraypainted the(yeah i know im an :Aresehole: ) but i decided to strip the spraypaint off and polish the chrome. the chrome wasnt chipping or nothin but it was kinda faded. i have some poweful paint stripper and im pretty sure it wont damage the chrome but i wanted a second opinion. also once i get the spraypaint off whats a good way to polish the chrome. i have some chrome/brass cleaner and i have a dremel with all kinds of different cleaning/polishing bits. so what is your guys best chrome cleaning method. i know i cant make it like new but i want to see if i can make it a little better.
thanks

paint stripper wont touch the chrome
and if they were sprayed with a rattle can, the paint will fall off pretty easily
how much the chrome needs polishing depends on how well you prepped it for the paint:
if you went nuts with 40 grit paper on it before painting, its gonna need some polishing
however if you just degreased the chrome then painted, then just polish it by hand
there are many products on the market, but i use autosol then brasso. just because thats what i have in the cupboard

i would use autosol and alot of elbow grease they should look fine after that :daumenhoch:
-
Nitromors - to remove the paint.
Autosol - to polish it up afterwards.
Soft Cloth - to buff it and get rid of the autosol residue.
Sorted.
-
use a polish after autosol to make it real shiny
-
Be carefull using Autosol as it is a mild grinding paste.

try peek its a lot kinder to chrome :daumenhoch:
