I saw this a few months ago on youtube.....looks awesome! There is an american website where you can buy all the kit to do it. Unfortunately there are downsides.....

Its massively expensive and they wont ship it to other countries due to restrictions and safety for transit.

from what i gather it can be applied to most things. I've seen it done on shoes, wood, glass, metal and even a plastic water
bottle that was crushed up and put back into shape to show how flexible it was!!

well i think it's clear coated after so that's the protection, i've looked into setting this up myself but just not

ready to invest the time and money yet but it is something i would get a lot of pleasure doing :daumenhoch:

That Beat was a bike that took part in a Streetbeat build-off in the States several years ago.  Have a look at this link, to see the rest of the bikes.   :daumenhoch:

Pretty simple process lads

The surface has an undercoat/prep on it first and then the chrome look is applied.

It is a water based product that is flexible so thats why you can coat plastic and it does not crack when you bend it.

The final coat is a 2pac clear for UV and damage protection.

It looks the real deal 8)

Just because it doesn't have twin-pinchers fitted, doesn't mean it is rubbish.   >:D

To be fair, I only put the pic up so Leehunt's fantasy of chrome tuffs could be realised.   :D

got nothing to do with the cranks, more to do with the horrific colour and those awful wheels  :crazy2:

chrome skyways look wank and cheap,  the surface has to be absolutely perfectly smooth and nick free to get then right finish for chrome spray,  he may as well wrapped them in tin foil...    :D

Just googled that and had a read.
Candy orange over nickel it was.
The chrome wheels seemed to have been liked by enough to vote it winner.
I see the wheels were vacuum plated not chrome painted. Looking at that paint process the wheels may have looked better if they had been through that instead.
I think the bike would have looked the dogs with some white alloy hubbed tuffs,

It's not really practical to paint or coat Tuff wheels due to brake rub etc. (ask N2cus  ;)) but that build wasn't about practicality.  It was all about pushing the boat out for the build-off and it paid off as it won.   :daumenhoch:

I agree, even though it wasn't my 'cup of tea' I thought it was pushing the boundries and thinking outside of the box.

Hi
I have this kit imported from the states.. Looking to launch a little side line business this year. Mainly classic car stuff that is too delicate or dented to go through the normal plating process as dents in bumpers (and frames) can be filled and primed before chroming giving the perfect finish ... I will be doing colours and once this crap weather sorts itself out I'll be testing out bmx bits, my stem, levers, calipers etc.. And chrome too (the trick to the chrome is also the correct tinted lacquer, I thought I could use normal 2k but it will make it look yellowed) ... I am also experimenting in plasti dip which is amazing for changing the colour of your car alloys and even whole car ! Then when your fed up ....just peel it off !, I'm experimenting in lacquering that too for a shiny finish which can be peeled off. I've bought myself a van and think I can get it mobile to come to you too rather than having to post bits etc ...I was going to do a post to see if anyone here would be interested , but seeing as tho the question has been asked ... :)

It's a great piece of kit ! Will post pics when I can get to the garage
