Sounds like a middle aged bloke who rides , it's not DSD is it ???
-
Yep he's got it right
-
So basically what he's saying is that......bmx is $hit :LolLolLolLol:
-
It says to me that he loves bmx, only 20" and only using parts that work.
-
What's the fuss ? ???
-
Think it's hormones mat
-
It says to me that he loves bmx, only 20" and only using parts that work.
So in the early 80's....a Haro master that sported quite a number of the parts he's listed....was crap? lol

It wasnt then ...... it would be now! :-X :LolLolLolLol:
I think I agree with him on most of it. It is shit, even if we still have a soft spot for it.
Like a loved pet that has got old and is a bit stinky now.
-
maybe to you mate. many of us will always rock opcs , non padded plastic seats, Quill stems
Threaded headsets and
Caliper brakes heavy ! i know i will ! :4_17_5:
-
You can chose to run whatever bike parts you like, but there is little question that OPCs are shit. It's a fact.
But there is nothing wrong with running shit parts if that's what you want to do. ;)
-
i have to agree with most on that list :-\
-
judas. you only just made the switch !! :LolLolLolLol:

different strokes for different folks. take it into consideration ! 8)
-
i still like marlboro's though :D
-
OPC's were the tool for the job for a lot of the pro's that rode vert 8) .....Most of us prefer to run a decent 3 piece set up due to the fact that they are stronger, and look better. However....a lot of people here that fit 3 piece cranks to their bikes, dont even ride them....just make them look pretty for the carpet ;)
-
OPC'S are the shittest thing since the austin princess gav , have you not heard ? :LolLolLolLol:

yep, n still are, doesnt make em not desirable tho
-
some who ve made the switch and turned their backs on the old skool and guys below 30 will have a totally different take on things . try telling some old guy that his austin healey sprite is shite because it dos nt have modern tech ! wont wash !
-
Tis true.....Im 31 and appreciate everything relating to bmx regardless of its age, its what I love :smitten:

But he would have to appreciate it is crap, more enjoyable than a new car, but shite in comparison.

Totally spot on. But just cos an old car, or a weak crank are shit, doesnt mean that some people dont like them. You wouldnt want to "ride" a OPC just as you wouldnt want to spend all day driving an old classic car. Cos there are better tools for the job now.
-
it does not matter. its the feeling that something evoke. you obviously both totally miss this point !
fitted an opc earlier. feeling good, feeling cool, feeling happy ! 8)
-
I ride one piece. It's how i roll ! :P
-

Alex has nailed it. We still ove the pet, but it's just not the same anymore.
Deffo a rider and I agree with it all. Still got two o/s bikes though......

sorry dude, i'm not having a dig whatso ever, and, on this rare occassion, i can safely say without bias that i have not missed the point.
i ride exclusively old school race legal bikes, early 90's race bikes, i would prefer to ride something a little older but all are too short or not quite geometrically evolved enough to throw about (IMO, experience) i have a n/s bike, all the bits, been sitting in the corner waiting to be built for over 14mths now, i just aint got the heart to build it as i love the bikes i ride, race n jump n dont want to make the transition to n/s. I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that there is only myself and dan dare who are exclusively regular o/s riders racers with no flirting with n/s bikes at all in the northern series. i have 5 fully built mid racers. all 1" threaded quilled stemmed, all caliper brakes, all soaked in VG parts (which he specifically mentions, some people have no taste :LolLolLolLol:), but i also appreciate that almost every component i love n use has been significantly improved and that from a riders point of view are crap. i am going to get the n/s bike built for this summer and i know i wont get the same buzz from riding it, as riding the older ones is totally the point in my opinion, but i know the n/s bike is gonna be far better equipped n suited for my needs.
i also have never owned a car less than 22years old,VWs, jaguars, stag, capri's, fiat x19's, scimitar, cortinas, escorts, monza, audi coupes etc, and appreciate they are all shite in comparison to better handling n more efficient newer cars, but i prefer older cars n thats it.
wasnt having a dig, aint missed the point, wasnt even my opinion, just being realistic whether I (or anyone else) likes it or not. :)

When I saw all them quotations I though Jimmy P was back

thats cool man. its good to discuss these things. i gather you ride way more than me and much better so you are probably more qualified to say what works and what does not work. i have to do most things on a budget so dont buy new top quality parts unless its for my road bike. i got a 2009 gt recently that getting pimped up. its not got an opc. how proud are you of me ? :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:
-
:LolLolLolLol: im just saying he's more or less right, I dont like it but it makes sense other than the padded seat thing that deffo makes him a pussy :LolLolLolLol:

Mat Hoffman on the deck of a halfpipe just ready to do a run, does he choose the TA he rode on BMX Beat or a bike that wont fold in half & leave him in hospital? :-\
-
and guess what i just bought today.
a mid school s&m survivor with a opc ;D

No, Im not missing the point. I have a shed full of old crap that I totally love. One of the bikes even has a OPC. Its crap ;).
All those bikes stay in the shed. Not cos they are MINT or NOS, but cos they are crap to ride. But I still love them all :smitten:
