Post by: The Burner King on January 28, 2013, 10:46 PM
Where is the best place to get an all coloured NOS rim made into shiney sides. I'm too afraid to do it myself.  :-[

Go on Julian have a go - you can remove the anno by oven pride or such but being careful or you gentley sand the sides away with a 1200 grade paper and then keep going with peek till shinny  ;) thats just the short version to try

Borrow a Detail Sander off someone nice - like uncle Spen, for example - and then work your way down through the Grits to an extremely fine paper; worked a treat on the ones I did, and removes nicks and scratches etc., too.

Have a butcher's here:

Not perfect, but very rewarding to do it yourself!  :daumenhoch:

To be honest, Dan, they could be a hell of a lot better with more elbow grease, but they got to a point where I was happy, and for my first resto-build I thought they looked OK.  :daumenhoch:
