WTF Brothers
Bought an Odyssey Springfield Brake last week and when I fitted it thought it was one of the raddest parts I'd ever seen.
3 one hour sessions later and the Spring snaps and jams me brake on !!!
Anybody have the same problem or got any advice??
Spare spring in the box but fear that won't last long either. Am I doing Summat wrong?

no one makes a product hardcore enough for big L

I was a little unsure of them doing a 'budget' brake. :-\
-
Thought it looked a crap idea when it came out :-\
Send it back Len
-
It looks killer.
And works killer when the spring isn't snapping Mark but the spring is proper flimsy.
The Ghost pads that come with it are tiny but sticky as fck.
Might try loads of laggy-bands on it (no really....) any things worth a try.
If it snaps it's back to my trusty old Cheapo Tektro as it hasn't let me down in 5 years. Haha

Send odyssey an email aling with a pic and state how gutted you are. Tell them you have always used odyssey products etc....lay it on thick.....and see if they send you some free stuff :)

I think you should wrap your tape measure around george's neck and hold him to ransom until he personally fixes it. Yep, that's definitely fair and proper. :yahoo_silent:

Bit harsh Ben, but fair, I'll bring the tape measure......
I was gonna get one of these on Lens recommendation, I'll probably stay with the `stick in the spokes'. You can't beat `tried and tested'!

think the spare springs are stiffer ones so got to be a bit thicker ? may last longer ?
assuming it snapped away from the ends?
but you got thin steel spring rubbing on alloy, somethings got to give, the spring is the cheap bit, and i suspect will be bought in cheap by oddy? so that will be the bit to wear out, or fail, a harder spring will cut through the alloy ,it's realy a none starter unless you can prove the spring to be reliable and then consider the wear on the alloy did you bung some grease on the spring ends , would have thought oddy recommend doing so .
could be a temperature thing going from outdoors to indoors , stressing the spring.................. ;D
the point behind em is they are cheap and easy to put on with minimal tools so the checkered shirt yoof don't have to learn to much about fixing their own fookin bike,
stick the tektro back on L , if it aint broke..........
agree on the ghost pads though sticky as shite on a stick once you re grind the toe in to stop the squeek ;) ;) , they're a bit soft so the toe in is lost when you grab the stopper hard, a word with the gman in order me thinks
as nippletwist says though L have word with the gman and get him to lathe you a solution :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:

Yep OldJim
everything you said is pretty much correct.
But don't worry the Nottm branch of LLP (well me, Jol n Leon the Rudecat.....) have spent litterally 3 or 4 minutes on inventing a mod that will fix the Springfield forever.
And of course as always it's well pocket friendly.
Details and pics will be released on Tues after I've had my weekly bath.

assuming plans went well L and you're all squeaky, any news on the update ? 3-4 mins on r&d ,almost a pro level project for the LLP staff , looking forward to results filtering down to flow riders :daumenhoch:

Full `hands on tools' LLP R&D sesh at the Boardroom this afternoon, pleased to say we had some amazing developments regarding a new spring system.
I shall let the MD announce the `technical spec', but be assured, success is a wonderful thing, and well done to the entire team.
Lenny - team leader/mastermind
Munny - chief engineer and goader of above.
Jol the Crow - bystander/pi$$ taker of both of above!
Nice

I simply can't believe Jol was involved for more than the first 2mins as he can't stay still for any legth of time close to 3nins without pullin a mazin trick on his bike.
I need to negotiate compulsory time off in my next contract to attend LLP product development workshops (aka workskives) so I can get to test these awesome products first hand......
