I would have thought you'd need a V pulley  ???

I would have thought that would need some serious tension so it didnt slip.  Would certainly save a bit of weight though for the lightweight junkies out there! :)

Will it squeal like my Scirocco in the wet??

if it was gonna work, we'd have been using this system for years, same with shaft drive.

It ain't broke, don't fix it.

How would you get it to fit?

A chain has to be split before it can be fitted and it's adjustable for length. Some sort of spring loaded tensioner would take care of any length issues but how would you get it on the frame in the first place?

The frame has to pull apart somewhere to allow the belt to be installed, but Pete's right I would prefer v pulleys to stop the belt slipping sideways
