Okay, before I go drilling the QR off my front 900, I have heard, and read through other threads on here, that it is possible to convert it for potts mod without removing the QR.
I can get a Weinmann adjuster for this purpose, the same as the DC one on a Nippon with the added pinch bolt but, how do I go about securing the cable in the QR? A Nippon QR has a large opening on one side for the cable outer which butts up inside to a smaller hole for the cable inner only to come through thus, securing the cable in the QR.
The MX1000/900 however, has the hole big enough for a pinch bolt.
How do I go about securing the cable? Any ideas?
Cheers :daumenhoch:

can you not use the original weinmann adjuster on the QR ,
take the pinch bolt out and put it where the adjuster usually goes and bolt the adjuster
upside down through the QR where the pinch bolt was , if that makes sense :)
i'm sure thats what i used to do bitd

A bit like this , might need to slightly file out hole to fit pinch bolt :daumenhoch:

I'm sure I saw someone on here take the pinch bolt out of the quick release , then use a normal cable adjuster screwed in to the part of the release that held the pinch bolt.
Screwed in from the bottom obviously to house the cable outer, then the cable just threads through to meet the pots modded weinman adjuster your talking about.
I think there's a pic somewhere on here from the last time the question came up.
Found the pic.
If you do this you can leave the release on and use that weinman pots mod adjuster too.

Thanks guys. I have done just that. I took a normal adjuster, pushed it through and screwed the nut on from the other side to hold it tightly. I have a Weinmann adjuster on it's way to me that is the same as the DC adjuster with the pinch bolt incorporated that will sit in the top.
As soon as I have it, I will post some pictures of the setup :daumenhoch:

with the 1000 you might find the top part of the caliper hits the downtube if you spin the bars? ??? they're quite high from what i remember
