Title: Need to clean up chrome, BUT no where to do it
Post by: Gal on February 06, 2013, 12:10 PM
Hi. Have seen the threads about oxalic acid but I rent a room in a flat and have no where to do it. Is there anything else I can try?

Unless someone close to Leigh on Sea has space  ^"^

An alternative is the coke and tinfoil trick , autosol and then peek . All these methods require a good helping of elbow grease  :daumenhoch:

search the polishing thread bendycat did..

That is spot on!

Ive polished a frame and forks in my flat and no problem. Big sheet down.. Clean stuff in the bath then onto the sheet to polish..

Beware your fingers will hurt afterwards..

Yep i'd go with that chat to bendycat i've seen some mx 1000s he polished up and they where amazing  i don't think he would advise you to go down the coke and foil route though.

Oven cleaner and a craft blade is good to start with. Be careful of the finish though with the blade  :daumenhoch:

Wash off and do again if necessary.

Then use peek, apply and buff off. Do again as necessary  :daumenhoch:

I live in a flat bro and just get a box from the Londis shop to lay on the floor to do it on  :daumenhoch:

Exellent idea!

Any female want to join me and half the cost?

I can't put vinegar under the bed! Shitty divan thing

The flat is also shared so ony my room to do it in BUT

Will it be ok outside in the elements if I get a huge bucket thing.
It's mainly crusty around the welds really, maybe a little thin in places. Think the guy I got it off used wire wool and wd40 to clean it. twat

Otherwise I am going to get Superdan to powder coat it. May well go that way anyway once I have some funds
