What looks to be easy, threadless you say, like 1"1/8 you say, no !

Take out stem bolts and put them in the wrong way, insert flat spanner or other strong flat piece of metal and wind bolts back in gently opening the slot, the stem will then fall on, make sure all is lined up with the forks and remove the bolts, now it will be stuck solid.
Removal is the reverse of fitting
