Title: hydrographic dipping
Post by: chubby on March 13, 2013, 03:43 PM
A good mate popped in the other day, ain't seen him for a while & knew he was fed up in the building game,he's bought a load of kit & started up himself doing this new dipping thing...
Prob easier to view his site than i explain it
http://hothydrografix.com/
basically anything that can be painted can be coated so I've given him these to try out

gonna do them black carbon fibre & see what happens ,got a couple of seats he's gonna do too, Will keep you all posted
cheers Richard  :daumenhoch:

I had the idea a few months back and bought a domain web name etc . I ordered the tank but a friend went behind my back a did it .

It's called hydro dipping or hydro printing .

Think that's a great idea. How long does it last and how tough is the finish ?

you clear coat it after so it's as hard as a painted finish, think you can use a Matt clear coat too..

We had a tank at work for a while, once item is dipped it needs to be lacquered
We had carbon fibre, leopard print skulls to name but a few,it's quite tricky to do and needs a lot of practice
But the end result is excellent

Something similar was on wheeler dealers t'other week. After some cleaning, he dropped some interior trim into a big vat of water to which he'd placed a quite large transfer in first. Finish was cock on.
